The developers of the of the critically acclaimed Wolfenstein 2, MachineGames, have now opened their vacancies for the Network Programmers which might indicate that the studio might be looking to introduce multiplayer in its next project, Wolfenstein 3 maybe? Their first game from MachineGames was Wolfenstein: The New Order which launched in May 2014 and received many awards including “Game of the Year” & “Shooter of the Year” awards. The recent title from the studio is Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus which released on 27 October 2017. Wolfenstein 2 sold at a very quick pace and that was when the developers decided to recruit Network Programmers to strengthen their team. The nominees for this year’s DICE Awards are in, and the top honoree by far is Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Zero Dawn — the sci-fi action/adventure game received nods in 10 categories. Horizon Zero Dawn was the only title to score double-digit nominations; the next highest total went to Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which got six. Both of them are up for the Game of the Year award, alongside StudioMDHR’s Cuphead, PUBG Corporation’s PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Nintendo’s Super Mario Odyssey. In all, 68 different games from 2017 are listed among the nominees across 24 categories. Years ago, when MachineGames began production on Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, I can’t imagine the studio — or any of us — would have guessed that actual, real-life, yes-I-mean-it Nazis would march in the streets of America in 2017, wielding torches, spouting hate speech, suffering little to no consequences as the nation looked on. And yet, here we are. 2017 happened, whether we like it or not. It’s a lot. I watched the first season of Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle when it came out. It was striking, enjoyable prestige television, adapted from a Philip K. Dick novel imagining that the Nazis had won World War II and occupied the United States. As alternate history about the oppressiveness of living in America under the Third Reich and the machinations of those trying to work within it and against it, it was grim but compelling, a story that humanized characters on both sides. The annual Game Developers Choice Awards has officially announced its nominees, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Horizon Zero Dawn are tied for the most nomination with six each, including Game of the Year. The awards takes place during the 2018 Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.The other nominees for Game of the Year are PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Nier: Automata, and Super Mario Odyssey. All of the above were nominated for multiple awards in categories like Best Audio, Design, Innovation, Technology, and Visual Art. Any game publicly released in 2017 is eligible for nomination. The awards will be hosted by Robin Hunicke, a professor of game design at UC Santa Cruz and the co-founder of the independent game studio Funomena.The awards are open to all GDC 2018 pass holders.
