You might have seen the news that Microsoft has unveiled xCloud, a streaming service that will let you play Xbox One games on smartphones, tablets and basically anything that can connect to the internet. This comes after EA announced in June that they would launch a game streaming service as part of their clunkily titled EA Origin Access Premier offering. And Sony already offer a streaming service for PS2, PS3 and a limited number of PS4 games in the form of PlayStation Now. Even Nintendo, dear old online-phobic Nintendo, has a couple of streaming-only games on the Switch courtesy of streaming version of Resident Evil 7 and Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey - although these are currently only available in Japan. APPLE'S long-rumoured streaming service could be cheaper than rival Netflix, according to experts. Industry watchers claim Apple will try to undercut Netflix with a bargain TV-show-and-movie service next year. The entertainment industry seems settled on the fact that Apple is working on a streaming service. In fact, just last week Apple announced it had teamed up with Oprah Winfrey to produce a "lineup of original content", without revealing where that content would live. Now tech site Recode reports that some industry players expect Apple to offer a bargain subscription. "One TV executive who has talked to Apple tells me Apple says it intends to sell a standalone subscription to its original video shows, priced below Netflix," the site wrote. FACEBOOK has launched a new spin-off website that lets people watch and live-stream video games: FB.GG. It's a clear attempt by Facebook to claw back some of the youngsters fleeing the social network for cooler apps like Instagram and Snapchat. FB.GG still borrows the core Facebook design – that boxy blue and white look. But it's a clear big to rival popular video gaming streaming services that already exist, like Amazon's Twitch and Google's YouTube Gaming. Estimates suggest that young gamers spend more than three hours a week watching other people play, so FB.GG seems sensible enough as an idea. The 'GG' part of the name refers to "good game", popular gamer slang usually uttered at the end of a multiplayer match. FACEBOOK is adding a karaoke option that lets you share live lips sync videos to hit songs new and old. The feature is bundled in with the social network's Live video function that less you share real-time clips that your mates or the public can interact with using comments and likes. Facebook's "Lip Sync Live" will let you sing along to recent smash hits like Drake's God's Plan, Ed Sheeran's Happier, Camilla Cabello's Havana and jukebox jams such as Guns N' Roses' Welcome to the Jungle, among others. And this being Facebook, you'll be able to don an augmented reality selfie mask (in the vein of Snapchat's Lenses) or add colourful background graphics to spruce up your renditions.
