Home • Godus • 1072 "I don't think I've ever knowingly lied" John Walker Prisoner 13th February 2015 / 12:37PM When Peter Molyneux agreed to speak to me, I knew the interview was going to be tense. I knew that an article we’d posted on Monday, asking what was going on with the development of Godus, had kicked up an enormous storm for 22cans and its boss, with the rest of the gaming press picking up and running with it. So I assumed, when he agreed to chat, he knew that it wasn’t going to be a smooth ride. I wanted to get to the root of so much that now seems to form the reputation of the developer, the outlandish promises that so often aren’t kept, the ridiculous time-frames claimed, and the often disappointing or lacklustre results. I especially wanted to do this now that the people funding such things aren’t deep-pocketed publishers, but the players themselves. I wasn’t expecting it to take us in the direction of … [Read more...] about Peter Molyneux Interview: “I haven’t got a reputation in this industry any more”

Firewatch devs put In The Valley Of Gods on hold
Home • PC Game News • Firewatch • 71 Matt Cox Staff Writer 4th December 2019 / 10:44AM It is a sad day for pretend archaeology. Firewatch developers Campo Santo have placed In The Valley Of Gods on hold, instead choosing to work on Half-Life: Alyx, Dota Underlords, and other Valve projects. This follows their move to Valve last year, which John (RPS in peace) quizzed them on at length in 2018. That means we’ve got a weird, melancholy portal into when Campo were excited about what the move would mean for their new game. Half-Life with a sprinkling of Firewatch sounds neat and all, but I was looking forward to filming pyramids. Campo co-founder Jake Rodkin made the announcement in a statement to Polygon. “In the end, Valve Time makes fools of us all”, he said, before explaining that the path away from The Valley Of Gods was something of a slippery slope. “You hear a lot about how at Valve you can work on what you want. It … [Read more...] about Firewatch devs put In The Valley Of Gods on hold
Wot I Think: Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus
Home • PC Game Reviews • 135 Colossal Adam Smith former Deputy Editor 26th October 2017 / 3:53PM Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus does not pull its punches. Early in the game a returning villain asks, “is this what a hero looks like?” She’s mocking and threatening a wounded, degraded and broken woman. She’s about to execute that woman. Wolfenstein’s answer is a defiant “yes”. Its heroes don’t look like any one thing because they are many and they are diverse. They are survivors and fighters and thinkers, black, white, American Jewish, British, German, male, female, disabled, disfigured and powerful. They’re also flawed – sometimes too angry, sometimes too selfish, sometimes too afraid to face up to reality – but they are the kind of people you’d want in your corner if the world went wrong. They’re also the game’s greatest asset and its most potent weapons. This is, remember, … [Read more...] about Wot I Think: Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus
What Are We All Playing This Weekend?
Home • 118 Tell us Graham Smith Editor-in-chief 10th October 2015 / 10:00AM Alice has been away this past week, and so I’d imagine is presumably playing the game of “If I swim to the other side of this loch and run away, perhaps I’ll not have to return to work on Monday.” The rest of us however remain on dry land and I’ve gathered the team to ask them what they’ll be playing this weekend. Leave your own response in the comments below. Let’s start with lovely comrade Joe Donnelly, who has been pitching in this past week to cover the absences of Adam and Alice. Thanks Joe! Joe: Much like Graham and Alice of late, I’m still playing The Phantom Pain. But it’s taking over my life, I feel. The other day, I watched a new neighbour move into the flat across the road from my window and thought about what I’d like to Fulton from their delivery van, and what I’d let them keep. I was waiting in line for bread … [Read more...] about What Are We All Playing This Weekend?
Warframe guide – tips and tricks for beginners
Home • Guides • Warframe • 1 Everything you need to know RPS Hivemind 8th May 2019 / 5:30PM Warframe is almost impressively obtuse; to the outside observer rather impenetrable. The free-to-play loot shooter has over five years of additions since its launch, layering system upon system upon system. All of which have an impressive amount of depth to them, but it is also almost aggressively uninterested in making sure newer players understand any of it. There’s Warframes to mod, guns and swords and crossbows to craft in the Foundry, Dojo rooms to build, Endo and Mutagen Samples and Argon Crystals and, well, a whole bunch of other stuff. Like, a lot of other stuff, so be ready to grind, a lot. To help you on your journey into one of the biggest free-to-play loot games out there, we’ve got a bunch of tips and tricks for making your Tenno the best Tenno that it can be.
