Andrew Lincoln has headed up the cast of AMC's zombie drama The Walking Dead since it started back in 2010, playing group leader Rick Grimes. However, it has now been reported that Lincoln will leave the show after the next season, which premieres later this year. The news comes via Collider, which reports that The Walking Dead Season 9 will be the actor's last. Comicbook.com collaborates the story "from multiple independent sources," and additionally states that AMC will officially announce Lincoln's departure ahead of his final episodes. While it's unsurprising that Lincoln might want to leave The Walking Dead after nearly a decade of playing that single role, Rick has been at the center of the show since the very beginning. In the comic books on which The Walking Dead is based, Rick remains the main character, so expect a serious deviation from the story when Lincoln does make his exit. This follows the news that co-star Lauren Cohan, who has played Maggie since Season 2, will also … [Read more...] about The Walking Dead’s Andrew Lincoln Leaving After Season 9–Report
Kuwtk season 9
The Walking Dead season 8 may have spluttered its way towards a conclusion, but The Walking Dead season 9could be about to do the impossible and turn things around. There’s already been talk of a mini-reboot and now these set photos are sure to light a fire under even the most jaded of fans. The images, snapped by fan Sarah Michelle Vega (which you can see below), show Rick trotting along on a horse. So far, so ordinary, right? Not so. Computer, enhance.Firstly, I’m glad that Rick has got a nice, neat haircut. We don’t want any Walkers grabbing at his greasy mullet now, do we? More importantly, that sure looks like a slightly older Rick with a grey-tinged beard. It could be nothing, but when coupled with Negan’s facial fuzz (Jeffrey Dean Morgan has recently been seen sporting a grey beard too!), it comes together to paint a beardy picture of a lot of days gone bye, as we say hello to a new future. That’s not all. Even the mode of transportation is a … [Read more...] about Time jumps, Rick’s new look, and Lucille II: These Walking Dead season 9 set photos suggest the show is starting afresh
The Walking Dead season 9 may be a little way off, but you know what they say: you’ve got to speculate to accumulate. Except we don’t even have to do that, because outgoing showrunner Scott Gimple has laid bare what we can expect from the next chapter of the neverending saga featuring Rick and the gang.Speaking to TVLine, Gimple was candid about everything from a potential Rick and Maggie conflict to whether Lauren Cohan would even be back as Maggie at all. There’s so much there, in fact, we’ll have to break it all down.Rick vs. Maggie isn't happening - at least not directlyDespite The Walking Dead season 8 ending on an ominous note, it seems like Maggie and Rick won’t be butting heads next season.“What Maggie has said to Daryl and Jesus was, ‘The Hilltop is going to flourish… I’m going to lead this place and make it work. But after that, I have this little thing on my to-do list, and it has to do with Negan,’” Gimple … [Read more...] about The Walking Dead season 9 won’t be Rick vs. Maggie (and 4 more things we’ve learnt)
I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking that The Walking Dead season 8 felt like the final, gasping breath of a show on its last legs. Season 9, however, isn’t too far away. With all that went down in the finale, there’s plenty of scope for change and – more importantly – improvement. While improvement is subjective, change is definitely a-coming. Outgoing showrunner Scott Gimple has talked openly about season 9 being a “new show” with a “new narrative”. A clean slate may be the best thing for the show, and there are plenty of ways to move forward from there. Here are some of them: 8 ways The Walking Dead season 9 can fix the show. Ditch the comic book storylines If you knew exactly how The Walking Dead season 8 finale would play out, then there’s a good chance you’ve read the comics. Taking and adapting the source material can work (see Game of Thrones), but mixing it up a little can work even better … [Read more...] about 8 ways The Walking Dead season 9 can fix the show
Eight seasons is a long time to keep things fresh. Just ask The Walking Dead. At risk of decaying like so many of its mangled Walkers, outgoing showrunner Scott Gimple has revealed plans for the show to undergo a complete refresh for season 9. He’s stopped short of using the word reboot – but his words have pretty clear implications for both Sunday’s finale and the show’s immediate future.Speaking to EW, Gimple addressed his departure and how it ties into the finale. For him and his team of writers, it felt as if “in many ways being sort of the conclusion of the first eight seasons.” I was already firmly on the ‘Rick dies’ theory bandwagon, and now I’m more convinced than ever that Rick bites the dust in The Walking Dead season 8 finale. Don’t believe me?
