In this new horror game you are a cat, and your name is Biscuit

· February 22, 2021 ·

Created by From Scratch Studios , a tiny two-person indie team, Etched Memories is a horror game starring a cat with a troubled past. And honestly, as soon as I read that, I had to play it—not to mention the fact that the cat's name is Biscuit . Biscuit! The game is very much still in development, but a demo has just been released to give you an idea of what to expect. "Waking up in the midst of a stormy night, a grey feline named Biscuit finds his mom nowhere in sight," reads the game's Steam page, which describes Etched Memories as a *deep breath* first-person and third-person indie horror cat simulation game . "Feel what it is like to be Biscuit as he searches for his mom through the memories he has clung onto." I played the demo and, while it's pretty rough around the edges, there's something very enjoyable about slinking around as a cat. It makes you feel small, in a way games usually don't, as you explore the game's dark, rainy woodland setting. I also love that … [Read more...] about In this new horror game you are a cat, and your name is Biscuit

New Horror Game Stars A Tabby Cat Named Biscuit

· February 23, 2021 ·

If you've been itching for a new horror project to follow, but also one that has you playing as a cat instead of a typical human, then Etched Memories is here to fill that very specific overlap. A new horror title from independent developer From Scratch Studios is still a long way from release, but a demo showcasing some of the ideas the studio has for its title is now on Steam. In Etched Memories you play as a cat (a tabby, of course) named Biscuit who is searching for his lost mother. An innocent enough premise, but one that looks like it will veer into tense situations from the looks of the first trailer. The game itself is described as a mix of first and third-person exploration, with the view shifting depending on the gameplay scenario. Exploration through a semi-open world, for example, is in third-person, which gives gameplay an interesting perspective given the size of its protagonist. That switches to first-person when in a house, for example, where you can inspect … [Read more...] about New Horror Game Stars A Tabby Cat Named Biscuit

· October 28, 2015 ·

Undercover cool What makes a good spy? Is it a cunning mind able to think outside the box? Perhaps a willingness to embark on dangerous missions? Or is it the ability to get the job done with a touch of class? The following bunch of onscreen espionage artists are versed in all of the above. Taking down nefarious organisations and risking life and limb for the greater good is what they do best -- with particular attention paid to their unabashed cool. Nothing stands in their way when it comes to going to work in style. 20. Bridget von Hammersmark As seen in: Inglourious Basterds (2009) When it comes to toppling Hitler's regime, nothing is out of the question for Bridget Von Hammersmark. The German movie star employs her fame to masquerade as a double agent. Who would guess that a screen beauty was helping British forces bring down the Nazi high command? What's even more admirable is her commitment to the role. She remains in character and unwavering when retrieving the … [Read more...] about 20 coolest movie spies, moles and secret agents

Someone should make a game about: Gef the Talking Mongoose

· February 16, 2021 ·

When James Irving moved to a farm on the Isle of Man alongside his wife, Margaret, and youngest daughter, Viorrey, I doubt he expected his family would become haunted by a talking mongoose. It all began on September, 13th 1931, when James claims he saw a creature run across the yard of his farm Doarlish Cashen, known as Cashen's Gap in Manx Gaelic. Shortly afterwards, the family started to hear something scratching against the wooden panelling, which lined the rooms of the farmhouse for insulation. Thinking they had a rat problem, the family placed traps within the gaps between the panelling and the stone walls of the house, but their prey eluded them. In a last attempt to scare away the pest, James tried growling at it, hoping the noise would be mistaken for a predator, instead the creature growled back. The Irvings quickly discovered that the creature could imitate any animal noise they made, until one day, it started talking and eventually introduced itself as Gef. Once he had … [Read more...] about Someone should make a game about: Gef the Talking Mongoose
