The first beta build of DayZ has hit the experimental branch with new base building, "player restraining" and vehicle updates. "I'm excited about this first step to a more polished gameplay experience with more endgame goals to achieve" writes lead producer Eugen Harton in a DayZ blog post. The 0.63 update will hit the default stable branch imminently and after that the developers plan to concentrate on fixing the game. "While features are in, their functionality is often broken," Harton admits. "We know that's what makes or breaks a game, and now is exactly the time to get that fixed. During this period of stabilization and iteration, you'll see the game change around the details that matter."The team plans a period of stability from the beta through to a 1.0 release, which means most of the core features and items are now in the game. Remarkably the plan is for DayZ to get to 1.0 before the year is out. "While there are large numbers of issues left, only about 600 of them are crucial … [Read more...] about After nearly 5 years, DayZ finally moves into beta

Well, there are so many games in my gaming library that I haven’t even booted yet. I blame Steam for it, the platform offers so many discounts and deals every now and then. People end up buying games they do not need or plan to ever play. Writing this article makes me think just how much money I spent on Steam games that I haven’t played. I haven’t touched WWE 2K18, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Homefront The Revolution, Assassin’s Creed 3, Orion, just to name a few. Steam doesn’t refund games after a certain period of time, and it takes some time before a person comes to his senses and realize he wasted a lot of money. But there can be a silver lining if the game itself offers an achievement for not playing it. While I personally think every game should have this achievement, right now, only one does, The Stanley Parable. On October 17, 2013, this game released on Steam and today, it’s October 17, 2018. It has been five years which means if you … [Read more...] about Get The Steam Achievement For Not Playing A Game for 5-Years
Dan “Killinallday” Acosta is the youngest competitor in this year’s HCT (Hearthstone Championship Tour) Summer Championship. However, don’t mistake that for lack of experience. Acosta has been a part of competitive Hearthstone for quite awhile now but has yet to break through the qualifying rounds. That changed this year as he is one of four competitors representing the Americas in the tournament. Some believe that this is the year for Killinallday — or as fans have dubbed #YOKAD to show their support — going into this year’s Summer Championship. Before the tournament began DualShockers, as well as a few other journalists (marked below as “round table”), asked questions regarding Acosta’s strategy, preparation, the hashtag, and more. Round Table: I just have to ask right off the bat, is this the year of Killinallday? David Acosta: Yeah, it’s the Year of Killinallday. Yes. This is my first year competing where I’m … [Read more...] about David “Killinallday” Acosta Interview — Is It the Year of Killinallday?
MICROSOFT has confirmed it's killing off plans to add virtual reality support to your Xbox. The company has teased the tech for years, but now says players should give up hope of ever seeing VR on Xbox. Virtual reality, or VR, involves donning a headset and seeing computer-generated images, allowing you to play games as if you were inside them. Sony launched its own VR headset and controllers (dubbed PlayStation VR) for the PlayStation 4 back in 2016, and it's proved reasonably popular. Sadly, in an interview with Gamesindustry.biz, Microsoft revealed Xbox wouldn't be getting a similar offering. "We don't have any plans specific to Xbox consoles in virtual reality or mixed reality," said Mike Nichols, Microsoft's marketing chief. He explained that your desktop computer is "probably the best platform" for virtual reality. And he added that for the Xbox, "our focus is primarily on experiences you would play on your TV". The surprise news will be very confusing for many keen Xbox fans. … [Read more...] about Xbox kills plans for virtual reality gaming, despite PS4 players having it for YEARS
