APPLE'S iPhone has come a long way since it first launched in 2007. Now that the supercharged iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR are official, we take a look back at how Apple smartphones have changed over the years. iPhone 2007 – 'reinventing the phone' The first Apple iPhone was announced on January 9, 2007, and didn't actually go on sale until June that year. It was the brainchild of late Apple founder Steve Jobs, who had only envisioned a multi-touch screen on a computer just two years earlier. At the launch event, Jobs famously said "today, Apple is going to reinvent the phone" – and he was right. But by today's standards, the original iPhone was a bit rubbish. It had just 4GB of storage, exactly 16 times less than the cheapest 2018 iPhone. It also had a tiny 3.5-inch screen (large at the time, of course), and couldn't even connect to then-speedy 3G phone networks. Despite its flaws, Apple sold 6.1million units, and changed the course of tech history forever. … [Read more...] about iPhone through the ages – here’s how Apple’s smartphone has changed since 2007

YOUR iPhone's best kept secret is a hidden hack that will transform the way you text. EDITING a message on your iPhone is way harder than it has any right to be – but this easy trick turns the phone's keyboard into a laptop-style trackpad with a cursor that you can move by touching the screen. With it, you'll be able to precisely go back and forth between each character in a text without having to furiously tap the display. It's all thanks to 3D Touch: a feature introduced by Apple to iPhones in 2015 that allows the handsets to recognise different degrees of touch pressure to perform a variety of tasks. You can use it for at-a-glance calendar notifications, detailed weather info, and prioritising downloads, and more. But its best function is its revolutionary ability to change the way you compose messages. APPLE's £999 iPhone X has a camera fault that's crippling the face-recognition feature on customers' devices. In some cases, the glitch can't even be fixed, with the company recommending the flagship phone be replaced with a new one, according to 9to5Mac. The tech giant quietly admitted the problem – which lies with the blower's rear snapper – in a leaked document informing its stores and authorised partners what to do when someone brings in a knackered handset. Apple says the first step employees should take is to run a diagnostics test on the faulty iPhone X. This process will determine if the FaceID issue can be resolved by repairing the phone's rear camera. If that doesn't work, the employee is ordered to swap the entire handset with a brand-spanking new device. There's no mention of a charge for the repairs process, so we've reached out to Apple for confirmation (we'll update this article with its response). But the bug has people baffled – mainly because … [Read more...] about Apple issues iPhone X WARNING over faulty camera with broken FaceID feature
