Home • PC Game News • BattleTech • 25 Natalie Clayton Contributor 22nd November 2019 / 2:04PM BattleTech‘s expansions have been a little light on new murderbots. Flashpoint brought in new multi-stage missions and Urban Warfare took the fighting to city streets, but this week’s Heavy Metal DLC is all about those mechs. BattleTech’s third (and final, for now) DLC drops with seven classics alongside the bespoke new Bullshark, accompanied by enough new lasers, missiles and mortars to turn even the biggest steel titan into a smoking scrapheap. Might as well throw out the scales on this one – Heavy Metal’s income roster includes some proper beefcakes to blast apart. Heavy Metal lets Harebrained Schemes live my personal dream, leaving a permanent mark on BattleTech canon by creating their own bespoke mech. The Bullshark is an absolute unit, a 95-ton Assault with a rugby player’s build packing more autocannons than I can … [Read more...] about BattleTech’s hard-hitting Heavy Metal expansion is out now

The RPS Verdict: Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes
Home • PC Game Reviews • Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes • 22 A co-op game about bomb defusal. RPS Hivemind 29th October 2015 / 7:00PM Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes [official site] is a co-op game for two or more people where one is faced with a bomb covered in symbols, buttons, mazes and counters, and everyone else is looking at a defusal manual. They must keep talking to solve those puzzles, or somebody explodes. Pip, Adam and Graham took it in turns to explode, then gathered themselves to discuss the finer points of bomb defusal. Graham: Four symbols! Pig’s tail; lightning bolt; apostrophe bum; triangle spiderman. In what order do I press them? [A few minutes pass while Adam and Pip get coffee, during which Graham is browsing the bomb manual.] Upon review, this challenge might reveal that I did not realise how the symbol puzzle worked until this very second. All the symbols shown are always present in a single column? Pip: The symbol … [Read more...] about The RPS Verdict: Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes
Plague Inc now simulating the viral horrors of fake news
Home • PC Game News • Plague Inc: Evolved • Alice O'Connor News Editor 10th December 2019 / 1:33PM In the spirit of the week known to the people of Britain as “Oh God, oh Jesus, oh God, oh Jesus,” infection-spreading simulator Plague Inc: Evolved recently added a simulation of “fake news”. It is a game of how things transmit between people, only this time we’ll be trying to disseminate harmful information. Even the term “fake news” itself has more facets than one game could capture but Plague Inc’s attempt might have some good grounding because it’s made in partnership with fact-checking charity Full Fact. Maybe this can distract you during this awful election week. I had a play and failed to convince the world that Deadly Premonition 2 was real. Like regular Plague Inc, the new scenario added in a free update on Friday has us craft and control something to infect the world. Only now it’s … [Read more...] about Plague Inc now simulating the viral horrors of fake news
Life Is Strange 2: Episode 5 verdict-o-chat (the end!)
Home • PC Game Reviews • Life Is Strange 2 • We've come to the end of the road RPS Hivemind 10th December 2019 / 1:00PM Alice Bee: I have performed the summoning ritual (the ritual is: sending an email) and called errant skate boy Brendy back for one last job before retirement. It is, after all, time for the last episode of Life Is Strange 2, a harrowing road trip game about two brothers trying to make it from Washington state to Mexico. And since we started the journey together, it seems only right we should finish it together. Reader, there will be spoilers ahead, so mind you don’t step in them. What a journey it has been, eh? Last time, Sean Diaz rescued his magical little brother from an abusive Chrstian cult, and they burned down a church with their mam. But this fifth episode, “Wolves”, was probably the most saddest so far, I think. Brendy, would you agree? Brendan: I didn’t cry, but I did have a very lumpy gullet. Alice … [Read more...] about Life Is Strange 2: Episode 5 verdict-o-chat (the end!)
Vampires Rule The World in New Plague Inc Mode
Home • PC Game News • Plague Inc: Evolved • 20 Brittany Vincent Contributor 13th November 2016 / 1:00PM Plague Inc: Evolved [official site] typically has you behind the reigns of a pathogen with the objective of killing the Earth’s population. This week’s Shadow Plague update has added quite a different new virulent force, one with a fondness for crushed velvet. The latest update gives you access to the Shadow Plague, a sentient pathogen that triggers a thirst for blood and general vampirism. Controlling one single vampire, you’ll seek to turn the world to your bidding. As a vampire, airport and harbor closures mean nothing to you… unless the game goes by traditional vampire rules and states you must be invited into those places in order to gain access. Oooooh, spooky! You can gain the ability to shift into the form of a bat to bypass conventional means of travel though, so there’s that. There’ll be opposition, … [Read more...] about Vampires Rule The World in New Plague Inc Mode
