Over the past several weeks I have sent a lot of interesting people who work in the games industry an email containing the following scenario: “You enter a room. The door locks behind you. From a door opposite another you enters. This other you is a perfectly identical clone, created in the exact instant you entered the room, but as every second ticks by they are creating their own distinct personhood. The doors will unlock in 90 minutes. Nobody will ever know what happens in the room. What do you do? (assume the materials you need for whatever you want to do are in the room). Please show your working, if able.” Many people have not responded, no doubt because they are still grappling with the question, and not because this is a bizarre thing to get from a journalist – especially if you don’t have an established relationship with them. But a lot of your favourite developers and voice actors and generally lovely people did respond, with very thoughtful answers. I … [Read more...] about We asked a lot of people: what would you do to a clone of yourself?
Introducing new dog to cat
The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs expansion is finally coming out on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One next month on July 31, 2018, according to an announcement by publisher EA. The expansion, which was originally released for the PC and Mac last year, brings back cats & dogs to the game, introduces a new area called Brindleton Bay, allows players to open their own veterinary clinic, and more. The biggest addition of the Cats & Dogs expansion is the new Create-A-Pet tool, which lets players customize their own dog or cat. Players will be able to choose their pets breed, coloring, and more. The tool’s painting feature also allows players to get creative with their pets such as making them look like other animals such as raccoons or pandas. Once players take their new pets home, they can interact with them in a variety of ways such as caring for, training, and playing with them. Players will also be able to build, open, and run their own veterinary clinic. Players will be able to … [Read more...] about The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs PS4 and Xbox One Release Date Announced
There’s too much “Star Wars.” A new “Star Wars” movie five months after the previous “Star Wars” movie — whether it’s “Solo: A Star Wars Story” or “Kenobi: A Star Wars Story” or “Star Wars: The New Jedi After the Last Jedi” — is too much “Star Wars.” I say that as a lifelong, 40-plus-years true believer. Anticipation is as much a part of “Star Wars” as Stormtroopers. Memo to Lucasfilm: Make “Star Wars” a holiday event, a seasonal treat, an annual happening, out of your life long enough to allow us to miss it.With one exception. There’s never enough Chewbacca. He is the series’ most dependable source of warmth, the shambling, impenetrable, unintelligible leading man who never was — decades before Vin Diesel’s Groot came along. Is it wrong to say you welcome Chewie back every time with the same broad smile you welcome your dog? I … [Read more...] about ‘Star Wars’ universe’s new Chewbacca reveals all the furry details
By Marshall Lemon, Monday, 7 May 2018 20:15 GMT Now that The Good Life’s Kickstarter campaign is complete, enjoy this official trailer on its utterly unique story campaign. The Good Life ended a successful Kickstarter campaign last week, which is exciting and impressive given how bizarre the concept is. To mark the occasion, developer White Owls has released a new trailer breaking down its premise while offering a glimpse at a rich murder mystery. Also, you can turn into a dog or cat, because of course you can. Created by Deadly Premonition’s Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro, this game is a daily life simulator that follows a photographer struggling with financial debt. As she completes freelance work for the residents of a small English village, she’ll earn enough to pay the bills, but not enough to help her return to New York. Over time, her investigations uncover the village’s two hidden secrets – that people transform into dogs and cats every … [Read more...] about The Good Life trailer introduces a bizarre murder mystery
PET OWNERS will go nuts for the new feature on Google Photos for iPhone and Android. The AI that powers the big G's image-sorting app can now identify your dog or cat's breed, and give you more info about your furry friend. The machine learning system, dubbed Google Lens, was recently introduced on the Photos app for iOS and Android after starting off as an exclusive perk on Google's flagship Pixel 2 phones. The digital know-it-all could already recognise the objects in your pics, including businesses, landmarks, books, movies, and games. It does this by pulling information from Google's huge database of search engine results. And now you can add pet-recognition to its growing skill set. Here's how you can get it to work: Open Google Photos, select the image of a cat or dog you just snapped, and then tap on the Lens icon to see more info, including the breed. In a blog post, Google product manager Kristi Bohl said the feature's arrival was in celebration of National Pet Day this week. … [Read more...] about Your iPhone or Android phone can now identify dog breeds in photos you take
