Warframe‘s new Fortuna expansion is finally here, providing the perfect excuse for players old and new to dust off their Tenno armour and head out into the never-before-seen frozen wastes of Venus’ Orb Vallis region. It’s the second open world map that’s been added to the game since last year’s Plains of Eidolon update, but given the number of performance issues people encountered the first time they ventured into out onto those titular plains, there’s been much consternation over whether Fortuna will also be too much for some PCs to handle. Fortunately (sorry), I’m here to help, as I’ve been chucking a bunch of today’s best graphics cards at it, as well as a handful of older ones I’ve got knocking around, to see how it fares. Below, you’ll find everything you need to know on how to get the best settings for Warframe’s Fortuna update, as well as what you need to do in order to squeeze every last drop of … [Read more...] about Warframe: Fortuna graphics performance: How to get the best settings

The results for Steam’s September survey are here, giving us a general overview of the hardware and software Steam users use the most. Steam published the results earlier, with the typical breakdowns for operating system, GPU, CPU and other main components. Unsurprisingly, Windows 10 64bit is the most common operating system on the platform, with a 60.17% share. Windows 7 64bit is its closest competitor, with 30.01%. The various Linux, and Mac operating systems combined make up less than 1%. On the hardware end, the Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 is the most popular GPU, with a 13.81% share, followed by the GTX 1050 Ti at 9.37%. Both GPUs saw growth in usage in September, but in both cases it was less than 1%. That said, Nvidia continues to dominate the top ten and beyond. In fact, Intel’s HD Graphics 4000 saw more use than the most popular AMD GPU. VRAM between 2 and 4GB seem to be the most common, which makes sense considering 1080p is by far the dominant desktop resolution. … [Read more...] about Nvidia, Windows 10, 1080p dominate the Steam September survey
PS5 is happening… but reports that Sony's next generation console may launch as soon as 2018 (via semiaccurate.com) seem unlikely given a recent flurry of updates. Sony Interactive Entertainment's CEO John Kodera admitted that PS4 was entering 'the final phase of its life cycle' at the company's investor relations day on May 22nd, but claimed that the PlayStation brand's 'next big leap' won't happen until March 2021. It's entirely possible that the brand's big leap isn't PlayStation 5, but the evidence is stacking up.Sony's new console was the subject of some after-hours chatter at the Games Developers Conference (GDC 2018) in San Francisco during March 2018. "We need to talk about PlayStation 5", joked one industry figure we know (perhaps not that jokingly, in hindsight), before the recent round of leaks and rumours. In the last few months, we've had PS5 processor rumours via SemiAccurate (a $1000 premium tech news site, which has a surprisingly solid track record), and insight … [Read more...] about Sony PS5: What tech will power the next PlayStation? Far Cry 5 is just around the corner and if you were wondering how well the game runs on PC then here we have some Far Cry 5 PC benchmarks that will give you an idea of how well the game runs on PC. The game looks pretty cool and it would be no surprise if it turned out to be very GPU intensive. Plus this is a Ubisoft game so you can expect denuvo to plummet those FPS numbers as well. Here we have the numbers for Far Cry 5 PC when running on the GTX 1080 Ti, 1070 Ti and Intel HD 4000 graphics. The integrated graphics are pretty weak for the game so as expected the game is pretty much unplayable even at 720p with all settings low. It should be interesting to see how well the AMD Ryzen 2400G runs the game as compared to the Intel HD graphics. You can check out the 1080 Ti and 1070 Ti benchmarks below: These are some high-end graphics cards and not everyone has the money to afford one, but I know there are those that want to play the game with their budget rigs as well. You can check out … [Read more...] about Far Cry 5 PC Benchmarks On GTX 1080 Ti, 1070 Ti And Intel Integrated HD Graphics
After a slow start for the original Fortnite, Epic made some changes and added a free battle royale mode, turning a struggling game into an overnight sensation. There's clearly a fine line between homage and copying, but while there are many similarities to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Fortnite takes a decidedly sillier approach to the battle royale genre. Key to this is a willingness to experiment, with limited time game modes, holiday events, and more—not to mention plenty of aesthetic customizations that can be earned/purchased. Battle Royale mode is technically still in Early Access, but with a player base of over 20 million—and as already noted, it's free to try—we felt it was worth checking out how performance is shaping up. Given the somewhat cartoony graphics, you might expect performance to be a non-issue, but that's not entirely true. At the lowest settings, Fortnite can run on just about any PC built in the past five years. Officially, the minimum … [Read more...] about Fortnite Battle Royale performance and settings guide
