Epic Games continues to iterate on its hit battle royale game Fortnite, and today is no different with the release of update 7.30 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch, iOS, and Android. The patch adds a new item named the chiller grenade, a new 'Solid Gold' limited-time mode, and controller support for mobile players; read on for the full patch notes. The chiller grenade knocks enemies back, causing them to slide along the ground. Be warned, though: it also affects teammates and vehicles, and will cause them to slip around with icy feet or wheels for seven seconds. Chiller grenades can be found in common rarities only inside vending machines and as floor loot; they drop in stacks of three with a max stack size of six. Fortnite's latest LTM, meanwhile, is Solid Gold, a game mode where all weapon spawns are legendary, with increased material gathering.Update 7.30's final big feature is the much-anticipated addition of controller support for mobile players, as well as the introduction of 60 Hz … [Read more...] about Fortnite: Battle Royale Update v7.30 Adds Chiller Grenade; Patch Notes Released

IT HAS become one of the biggest games in the world with over 45m players. Whilst everyone is busy enjoying Fortnite some other questions are left unanswered like who exactly made it and whose idea was it? Here's what we know... Who made Fortnite? Fortnite was first teased by Epic Games back in 2011 at the Spike Video Game Awards just three weeks after they initially came up with the idea. If you follow the Epic chain of command all the way to the top, you'll find some of the brightest minds in gaming, including eccentric CEO Tim Sweeney. It was a departure in their usual fare which Epic fans will know was Unreal Tournament and Gears of War. They initially described Fortnite as "a world where you explore, you scavenge, you build and ultimately you survive." The game was developed to be released on the Unreal 4 game engine with an original release date of 2013. In 2015 they let 50,000 players play the beta which enabled Epic to really understand the pros and cons of the game and … [Read more...] about Who made Fortnite, who is Tim Sweeney and how much money does Battle Royale make?
Battlefield 5 - or rather Battlefield V - is coming on October 19, and you'll be able to play it on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. There are no plans for a Nintendo Switch version. The game is heading back to World War 2, but it's going to be unlike any WW2 shooter you've ever played, as the focus is away from the battles and stories that have been covered by other games, movies, and TV. If you want to play the game, there will be a Battlefield 5 Open Beta coming some time in 2018 and you get access to it by pre-ordering. Battlefield Royale anyone? Or, at least, that’s what I would call a battle royale mode for Battlefield 5, which is apparently being prototyped by DICE for its next game in EA’s multiplayer shooter franchise. The leaked info was shared by VentureBeat, which previously reported that DICE’s shooter sequel would take place in World War 2, and comes just one day after multiple sources stated that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 would also feature a battle royale mode when it releases later this year. Battle royale, as popularised by PlayUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite Battle Royale, is a competitive PvP mode in which 100 players drop onto a shrinking arena in a last-man-standing fight to the death, but I’m sure you already knew that. While it may seem like DICE is riding the coattails of other games' success with this news, the series is admittedly a pretty good fit for a battle royale mode, with its open level design, systemic gameplay, and … [Read more...] about Battlefield 5 will have a battle royale mode this year, according to report that comes as a surprise to absolutely no one
The good times have kept rolling for Fortnite: Battle Royale since it launched in September 2017, and now the developers have laid out some enticing plans for the year ahead. A big "state of development" post on the game's official site is packed with info, and I've picked out the stuff I'm already looking forward to. If this tells you anything about how exciting these changes are, the fact that they're finally putting the poor, under-performing SMG weapon type out to pasture didn't even make the list. Fortnite: Battle Royale will get a 60fps mode on consoles The optional new "60 fps mode" coming to Fortnite: Battle Royale on consoles is your ticket if you don't mind sacrificing certain visual effects for a smoother play experience. The really nice part is that the new feature will come to all console versions, not just PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X. Fortnite developer Epic Games also created the engine it runs on, the industry-standard Unreal Engine 4, and sometimes it likes … [Read more...] about These 6 changes coming to Fortnite: Battle Royale already have us riding the hype bus
