Total War studio Creative Assembly continues to push the boat out when designing new factions, and we’re now so far from land that there are sea monsters. Even more so than usual, monsters are the stars of the show in the latest Total War: Warhammer 2 DLC: Curse of the Vampire Coast. In realising those monsters, Creative Assembly’s artists and animators have outdone themselves. This army of piratical bloodsuckers is a giddily joyous box of new toys: giant crabs chitter and chirp, crusted in barnacles and dripping with saltwater. You can almost taste the brine. The inexplicable Necrofex Colossus – a giant golem, constructed out of old, rotten ships – twitches and lurches as it lumbers across the battlefield, groaning when its wooden beams strain. The attention to detail is astonishing – even the units the Vampire Coast shares with the Vampire Counts, like the dragon-sized bats called Terrorgheists, have had a slimy reskin to distinguish them from their … [Read more...] about Total War: Warhammer 2 – Curse of the Vampire Coast review
In World of Warcraft, Vol’jin is proving to be one of the most important characters yet, which is pretty impressive, considering the troll Warchief died at the beginning of the last expansion, Legion. After Vol’jin was stabbed to death by demons on the Broken Shore, he told us and the Horde leaders that his gods, the Loa, had granted him a vision: Sylvanas Windrunner must step out of the shadows and lead the Horde. This went pretty well up until the end of Legion, when Sylvanas kicked off Battle for Azeroth by invading the Night Elf capital of Darnassus and burning it to the ground to ensure that no one else could get their hands on the magical mineral of Azerite. Vol’jin’s back in Battle for Azeroth. First, we bring his urn to the Loa of Death, Bwonsamdi; Bwonsamdi and Vol’jin had a deal in life, and Bwonsamdi wants to talk to the guy now that he’s dead. Once we bring his urn to Bwonsamdi, we find out ... it’s empty. There’s no soul. … [Read more...] about The next World of Warcraft patch will send players on a murder mystery tour
Squint just right, and you’ll notice the majority of named areas piecing together the map in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode are recreations of some of the most popular multiplayer and Zombies maps from Treyarch’s CoD games. Loot abundance feels just as generous as the speedy movement iconic to Call of Duty—as observed by our resident BR players—so choosing where to wingsuit over like a tactical sugar glider isn’t as tough a decision as PUBG’s feast-or-famine locations. Still, some spots stand above the rest for their reliable bounties or location for a less-intense drop. Here’s some of the choice areas to start a Blackout round off right.1. Nuketown Island (B5)The T-shaped avenue of ruined homes lining this island’s surface on the western edge of Blackout’s map hosts plenty weapons and armor, so expect guaranteed close-quarters action if you choose to land here. The island’s true prize sits underground: a … [Read more...] about Blackout map guide: The best drop locations in Black Ops 4 battle royale
Given how Destiny 2 has hemorrhaged players since its release last September, it seems almost perverse to name its next expansion, which will also be the game's biggest so far, 'Forsaken'. But perhaps it's also a sign of confidence. According to Bungie, this DLC represents the fruits of months of community feedback (read: fury) over the perceived wrongs of vanilla Destiny 2, and specifically its puddle-deep endgame. We broke down the key features coming with Forsaken earlier today, and the changes on the way as part of the game's second year of content look to be substantial. But will they be enough to turn the game's fortune's around on PC? That's the question put to our writers who are either lapsed players, or in at least one case, still hopeless addicts. Speaking of which…First impressionsTim Clark: Okay, okay. We pretty much all know I'm somewhat of an unreliable narrator on this one, because I never stopped playing Destiny 2, despite being all too aware of the stuff … [Read more...] about Can the Forsaken expansion turn around Destiny 2’s fortunes on PC?
