Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is notorious for its use of “energy” – the resource that governs almost every action players can take in the game. However, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery players only start out with 24 energy, which is barely enough to get through one lesson, and may be wondering how to increase their max energy. The only way to permanently increase max energy in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery that we’ve discovered so far is by attending flying lessons. The reward for learning new flying abilities are energy limit increases, so players can increase their energy limit to 27 by the end of Year 1, and then raise it to 29 by the end of Year 2. These are very small increases, but every little bit counts and will still help players progress through the game a little faster.Besides permanently increasing their energy limit, players are also able to temporarily go beyond their limit. This is done by purchasing energy with gems, the max of which … [Read more...] about Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery – How to Get More Energy

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery may be getting quite a bit of criticism for its excessive microtransactions, but the game has also managed to become somewhat popular thanks to the large and passionate Harry Potter fanbase. Some Harry Potter fans have been able to look beyond the restrictive business model in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery to enjoy the new lore it’s adding to the franchise, which includes the introduction of brand new characters, such as Slytherin student Barnaby Lee. Barnaby Lee appears in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery in the list of friends players can meet during the course of the game. However, it appears as though the mysterious character isn’t actually available in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery at the time of this writing. He is the last available friend on the list, and his description reads: “It’s not yet clear how to get closer to this person…”The other characters on the list include … [Read more...] about Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery – Who is Barnaby Lee?
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, out now on iOS and Android, is akin to a typical RPG, and that means players may be interested in dating other characters down the road. Fortunately, it appears they may be allowed to romance other students they meet at Hogwarts, but it’s going to take some serious time investment. It’s purely logistical: Your witch or wizard starts the game attending their first year at Hogwarts. That means they’re 11-years-old when the game begins. Players probably won’t be able to start developing more intimate relationships, if that ability becomes available, with characters until they’re a little further in their Hogwarts career. “You start as a first-year student,” Matt London, a writer on the game, told Polygon. “You’re 11-years-old, but the game covers the entire seven-year saga. So overtime, as new stories get unlocked and you progress through the game, you’re going to have to wait and see what type … [Read more...] about Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery might let witches and wizards date, but not until they’re older
Harry Potter: Hogwarts History is built upon a nearly impossible promise: allowing people to finally attend Hogwarts. Hogwarts History is a mobile RPG for iOS and Android developed by Jam City in partnership with Warner Bros.’ Harry Potter-dedicated Portkey Games label. The game takes place over seven years, encouraging players to take advantage of life at Hogwarts. There are classes to attend, Quidditch matches to play, students to duel with and, as the game progresses, crushes to romance. There’s a storyline woven into the game’s core, but the heart of Hogwarts History is the freedom in exploring the castle. The game takes place seven years before Harry Potter heads to Hogwarts — just after the death of his parents, while Voldemort is in hiding — meaning there’s no Boys Who Lived to encounter, either. I’ve never tried to hide how important Harry Potter is to me. I wore my Slytherin off-brand Doc Martens to the play session, sporting two … [Read more...] about Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is a dream for the Harry Potter obsessed
Harry Potter has been causing problems for more than just Voldemort as of late. In September, EA announced that it would be forced to delay its game tie-in to Warner Bros' Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, following the film's abrupt retreat to summer 2009. A day after the announcement, EA said that the delay would result in $120 million in revenue vanishing from its fiscal year--which only aggravated the publisher's full-year losses of $1 billion. With Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince now locked in for a July 15 theatrical release, EA and Warner Bros Interactive said today that the game will finally be given its day at retail on June 30. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PSP, Wii, DS, PC, Mac, and mobile platforms. Developed at EA Bright Light in Guildford, England, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is based on book six of J.K. Rowling's best-selling franchise. In Half-Blood Prince, players … [Read more...] about Harry Potter and Half-Blood Prince arrive June 30
