343 Industries has confirmed that it is exploring the idea of adding microtransactions to Halo: The Master Chief Collection. In an update on the Waypoint site, community writer Alex Wakeford explained that 343 will be renaming Season Points as Spartan Points and is looking into adding a new form of microtransactions. "For players who are new to the MCC, or who may not have dedicated much time specifically to unlocking items during the seasonal updates, or are simply completionists looking to catch the last outstanding items they need, we are internally exploring a potential new feature for the future in the form of purchasable Spartan Points," Wakeford wrote on Waypoint . The new system is described as being an "optional, additive alternative" for players and is being designed as a way for people to either skip the grind of obtaining items or be given the option to purchase the ones that they want. The existing method of earning points by leveling up and completing challenges … [Read more...] about Halo Master Chief Collection Cosmetic Microtransactions Being Explored By 343

Yu Suzuki, the creator of Shenmue, Space Harrier, and many other games, is releasing his latest, Air Twister, via Apple Arcade on June 24. Ahead of its release, we spent some time with the game and even had the chance to speak with Suzuki through a translator about the dream-like experience wherein you ride giant swans across alien landscapes. Suzuki confirmed some of the game's details--like protagonist Princess Arch’s size and what classic children’s novel served as the game’s main inspiration--and talked about how much he enjoyed one of GameSpot’s top 10 games of 2021 , It Takes Two. I've been playing Air Twister and it is bizarre. Is that how you thought people would react to it? Yu Suzuki: I didn't really know what people would expect. I just made the game. That's normal for me. Air Twister feels a bit like you're playing an interactive dream. Was that the intention? Thank you very much. I appreciate your comment. Yeah, not particularly. I wasn't really thinking that … [Read more...] about Shenmue Creator Yu Suzuki Explains The Giant Flying Swans Of Air Twister
Season of the Haunted has officially entered its second month of action, and like previous weeks, there's a whole bunch of new seasonal challenges to tackle from today inside of Destiny 2. For week five, the next part of the Sever storyline has kicked in now that Guardians have helped Zavala and Crow come to terms with some of their trauma. Nightmare Containment is the place to be for one of these new challenges, while Guardians who happen to be skilled with their Solar subclass can earn more experience in the Crucible while chasing the Sunburn task. There's also a new machine gun to acquire, and for Leviathan Reaper, you can find plenty of Nightmares to take out in the EDZ for a quick completion of that part of the challenge. As usual, you'll gain a substantial amount of experience for completing seasonal challenges. That in turn helps you fill up your season pass sooner, grabbing even more loot in the process to outfit your Guardian with in Season of the Haunted. You can also … [Read more...] about Destiny 2 Season Of The Haunted: Seasonal Challenges Guide – Week 5
The Sonic Origins collection launched this week with a number of bugs and issues, and one of the developers on the project is speaking publicly about what went wrong. "This is frustrating," Simon 'Stealth' Thomley of Headcannon says on Twitter (opens in new tab) . "I won't lie and say that there weren't issues in what we gave to Sega, but what is in Origins is also not what we turned in. Integration introduced some wild bugs that conventional logic would have one believe were our responsibility - a lot of them aren't." This is frustrating. A Persona 5 fanzine is facing financial difficulties after its founder allegedly spent the remainder of its budget, with one page artist claiming that an unreported amount was spent on Genshin Impact. The moderation team of the zine, dubbed 'Showtime', explains on Twitter (opens in new tab) that founder and now former head mod ‘Ree’ has been entirely removed from the project after confessing to spending the remaining $27,600 CAD ($21,286 USD) pot of funds on “personal use”, with one the fanzine’s page artists alleging (opens in new tab) that an undisclosed amount was reportedly spent on the popular gacha game. When contacted for comment, Ree confirmed to GamesRadar+ that some of the money was spent on Genshin Impact alongside other “frivolous products” like electronics, plushies, and zines, though necessities like food, rent, clothing, and transportation were also purchased. We’ve also reached out to Showtime for more information, and will update this story if we hear … [Read more...] about Persona 5 fanzine derailed after founder spends $20k on “necessities” and Genshin Impact
Last year's Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 proved that there was still a passionate fanbase hungry for more skateboarding action, and thanks to drummer Jess Margera from rock band CKY, it sounds like a new entry in the series is on the horizon. As spotted by VGC , Margera was a guest on the Behind Closed Doors podcast last month and spoke about how bands could earn cash beyond the usual rigorous touring schedule. "Now touring is your main income, and you really have to try and get licensing deals, try and get in where you can on video games or whatever, because that’s another way to make some money," Margera said. When asked about the band having licensed one of its songs to a Tony Hawk Pro Skater game in the past, the drummer said, "Yeah, and I believe we’re doing the new one coming out too." Margera referred to last year's remaster as a separate title in follow-up questions, adding that it was "so cool" to see the classic games "basically just vamped up with the same premise". … [Read more...] about Did CKY Just Reveal A New Tony Hawk Game Is Coming?
Lost Ark's next major update is on the horizon, but when it does arrive on June 30, it won't include a previously promised feature--Yoz's Jar. In a new blog post outlining features coming to the free-to-play MMO in the Wrath of the Covetous Legion update, Lost Ark's Western publisher Amazon states the Yoz's Jar cosmetics system described in the game's recent roadmap won't be featured in the upcoming update as originally planned. The jar would have introduced a new cosmetic system into Lost Ark, and while it was primarily just for fashion purposes, epic and legendary skins obtained through Yoz's Jar would have granted 1% or 2% attack power increases, depending on rarity. Yoz's Jar cosmetics would have been obtainable from the in-game store via Royal Crystals. The skins could then be sold on the player-to-player market. Players can exchange non-premium currencies like gold for premium ones like Royal Crystals through an in-game exchange system. Therefore, it would have … [Read more...] about Lost Ark June Update Will Not Include Pay-To-Win Cosmetics, Amazon Says
