Audio player loading… Like Penelope when Odysseus went on his epic jaunt around Greece, Turtle Beach has been talking to hundreds of potential suitors, in the hopes of a match. Essentially, the peripheral company wants someone to buy it, to save it from itself. However, its search for love is not going well. There's a lot to digest there, but here goes. The peripheral company best known for its cheap console headsets, simulator gear, and controllers (and owner of PC-focused brand Roccat) has been going through a period of upheaval. One that could see some of its upper management out of a job and the company's future in the hands of another in just a few months' time. It's all rather scandalous, actually. To understand what's going on with Turtle Beach and why it's looking for a sale in the first place, you need to go back a few months to a potential buyout bid from hedge fund and part owner, Donerail. Aggressive boardroom antics The Donerail Group (opens in … [Read more...] about Turtle Beach is in a race to find a buyer or else risk total upheaval

Elite Dangerous has ended a 2-year story with a big disaster and an update
Audio player loading… A new update for Elite Dangerous has just landed, bringing an end to the long-running Azimuth Saga storyline, paving the way for the next chapter in the story, and fixing a ton of issues. Update 13 concludes the Azimuth Saga which has been running since late 2020 and introduces the Aftermath arc. The story goes out with a bang, or more specifically the catastrophic failure of an alien-killing weapon. Scenarios and features have been added that Frontier says will reflect the finale, so while this chapter has concluded, the impact of the conclusion will be felt for some time. If you take your ship to the Anti-Xeno Conflict Zones, you'll see the impact of the unstable superweapon—the husks of destroyed capital ships, floating in space. Watch out for the thargoids, too, because it sounds like they're going to be pretty relentless, attacking any ships brave enough to come for a glimpse of the disaster. There's a decent chunk of fixes for … [Read more...] about Elite Dangerous has ended a 2-year story with a big disaster and an update
Minecraft ocean bases are a delicate balance of slick design and looming disaster
Scrambling around trying to build a base is always the highest priority on Minecraft's survival checklist. If you're like me, your first base was probably a haphazardly thrown-together oak block box with enough space for a bed, crafting table, and my blocky body to squeeze into. But Minecraft bases have become much more than that, and builders have been experimenting with all kinds of impressive designs like huge underground lairs, epic treehouses, or grand stone fortresses. There have been plenty of spectacular Minecraft builds (opens in new tab) , but one design that continues to blow my mind are ocean bases. In short, the water physics in Minecraft are hard to grapple with. The way water flows and fills spaces is pretty confusing and thinking about how the current of one water block is affected by its four horizontal and vertical neighbours is headache-inducing. That's why it's always impressive to see ocean builds. The engineering and design that have gone into building … [Read more...] about Minecraft ocean bases are a delicate balance of slick design and looming disaster
Rainwater Is No Longer Safe To Drink, Scientists Say
Rainwater is no longer safe to drink worldwide thanks to "forever chemicals." According to Euronews , man-made chemicals such as per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances, aka PFAS, are known as "forever chemicals" because they don't break down in nature. They're known to have non-stick and stain-repellent elements that can be found in lots of everyday items such as food packaging, electronics, cosmetics, and cookware. Thanks to the University of Stockholm, these items have been found in rainwater throughout the world. Ian Cousins, the lead author of the study, stated: "Based on the latest US guidelines for PFOA in drinking water, rainwater everywhere would be judged unsafe to drink," he continues to say. "Although in the industrial world we don't often drink rainwater, many people around the world expect it to be safe to drink, and it supplies many of our drinking water sources." The study also noted that the safe guideline levels for forever chemicals have drastically dropped in … [Read more...] about Rainwater Is No Longer Safe To Drink, Scientists Say
