If I’m driving home from Tennessee or Virginia, I have to come down the mountains and pass those super-dramatic run-off pits for trucks that don’t have no brakes. I have always wanted to see one, uh, get used. Like, nobody gets hurt, but a big horn-blaring mofo goes full blast into the trench while your terrified Mom instinctively flings her right arm across your chest. Where was I. Oh yeah, there’s apparently an FIA-sanctioned truck racing series, and it looks nothing like NASCAR’s Camping World Trucks series (or, before you mention it, the shit-tacular Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing). Those are pickup trucks on an oval. These are unholstered 5-ton Optimus Primes running around an actual F1 course (Hungaroring and Nurburgring are on this year’s eight-race schedule). Which means the wrecks must be fan-tastic. And there’s a video game for this! FIA European Truck Racing Championship (developer: N-Racing) is the latest flier Bigben Interactive has … [Read more...] about Hot damn, there’s a big rig racing game out this month

Cosmic Star Heroine has all the makings of a ’90s SNES RPG. It’s a solid game at an affordable price, but Cosmic Star Heroine rarely sets itself apart from the wide variety of games that came before it, and because of that it suffers. In my mind, the game is not much more than RPG comfort food that you can complete in a handful of hours compared to other RPGs already available on Switch. The game runs and looks great on Nintendo Switch; I think I might have played Cosmic Star Heroine once on my TV. This was a game that I was actually originally interested in playing on the Vita, so I was pretty excited to have the pleasure of playing it on the Switch. I think this is an exceptionally cool game to play in handheld mode on the system; growing up with a Game Boy Advance SP in my hands just about every day, I couldn’t help but reminisce over my times spent playing games just like Cosmic Star Heroine under my covers on a weeknight. I think it’s worth … [Read more...] about Cosmic Star Heroine Brings the Spirit of SNES-Era JRPGs to Nintendo Switch
There's been a cardboard explosion. Some kind of arts & crafts volcano has erupted in my home and spewed detritus everywhere. I can't move for tiny bits of cardboard sticking to my feet, hitching a ride into other rooms, and I've got a pile of discarded cardboard templates this high to try and ram into a shared recycling bin. Woe is me. My vacuum will never suck this lot up. Why did I bother with Nintendo Labo?"Oh, Dad! I found another one." I remember. That's my son, he's seven and he's really into Fortnite and beating my sofa up. But right now he's sitting quietly, holding a cardboard house we built, diligently testing cardboard plugs to try and discover a new combination, because when he does, he discovers a new mini-game he can play with the monster on the Switch screen. It's heartwarming.Yesterday it was his hilarious screaming I remember while he tried to hook a shark with our cardboard fishing rod we'd made, or his not realising he was humming the recorded tunes our … [Read more...] about Nintendo Labo review
Over the years, the Monster Hunter franchise has created plenty of creative, completely original monsters for players to hunt. The most recent entry in the series, Monster Hunter World, is no exception, offering players many new and returning monsters to battle it out with. Besides hunting monsters, players also find themselves crafting new armor and weapons for their hunter and Palico. Sometimes this gear has included crossover items from other video games, with equipment based on Horizon: Zero Dawn, Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, and Mega Man either on deck or already available.Since hunting monsters is the main draw of Monster Hunter World, it would be fun to see Capcom add crossover monsters to the game as well, giving fans a chance to hunt down some of the most iconic beasts from fiction history. If Capcom did decide to start adding crossover monsters to Monster Hunter World, we think these 10 would be the most fun to see.Balrog Out of all … [Read more...] about Monster Hunter World: 10 Crossover Monsters That Would Be Fun to See
When the Nintendo Labo was revealed it blew our minds a little bit. How does it work? When can we get the kits? And will our cats sit on the boxes for all eternity? Pitched as a "new interactive experience" for the Nintendo Switch, "specially crafted for kids and those who are kids at heart", no-one quite expected the Japanese gaming giant to pull build-your-own cardboard controllers out of the bag - of course, the internet went madWith that in mind, here's everything you need to know about the Nintendo Labo, from what the heck it is, to how much it'll cost and when you can get it.
