Gaming is a worldwide phenomenon so no one is safe from its addiction, not even the German football team. During the 2018 FIFA World Cup, members of the German football team brought their PlayStations to Russia and take their mind off the pressure of such a massive event. But the team spent so much time playing PlayStation (reportedly playing Fortnite) that the German football management had to turn off WiFi in the camp to get players off the PlayStation. It seems lack of focus may have played a role in the team’s elimination from the group stages. The team finished last in their groups. The reigning champion lost 2-0 to South Korea, resulting in elimination. Part of it can be blamed to the champions’ curse. Previous 3 champions all failed miserably. Also, this isn’t the first time something like this took place. Back in 2006, Italy turned off PPV porn options in player hotel rooms. While Germans got a taste of failure, Epic Games are enjoying major success with … [Read more...] about German Football Team Spent Too Much Time on PlayStation and Fortnite, Lack of Focus Killed World Cup Dreams?

Battlefield V is releasing this October, bringing a new view on World War 2. One thing we were wondering about regarding DICE’s upcoming title is what Battlefield V factions we’ll be able to play as when it releases. Latest information confirms that British and German forces will be available at launch with more releasing later on. According to the game’s Twitter page, the Battlefield V factions available at launch will be British faction on the Allied side & the German faction on the Axis side. Both of those factions will be able to be customized with their own exclusive items, with those items being Helmets and Camos. A lot of discussions has been made around Battlefield V’s historical accuracy with DICE revealing that they “dug deep into history books” in order to make this game happen. However, the company points out that Battlefield V will let players play as what they want to, bringing a new tone to the war game itself. German director Wim Wenders has recently devoted himself to profiling artists — the late German dancer and choreographer Pina Bausch in “Pina” (2011), the Brazilian war photographer Sebastião Salgado in “The Salt of the Earth” (2014) — and celebrating their art under the grand spotlight of the movie screen. The spirit of these documentaries is gentle and affirming, reveling in the visual and tactile beauty of their subjects’ creations, even as they leave the challenges of deeper criticism and analysis largely untouched.“Pope Francis: A Man of His Word,” Wenders’ admirable and deeply admiring tribute to the 266th supreme pontiff, follows very much in this tradition, even if it cannot properly be described as a portrait of an artist. Or can it? If there is an art to infusing the papacy with a spirit of reform, challenging centuries-old Catholic dogma and earning the ungrudging admiration of atheists and skeptics the world … [Read more...] about Wim Wenders’ moving ‘Pope Francis: A Man of His Word’ lets its subject ask the tough questions

Wargaming is seriously nerdy about tanks. From turret speed, to rate-of-fire and gun depression, everything about the vehicles in the studio’s flagship game – World of Tanks – is painstakingly modelled to make it as accurate as possible. Wargaming CEO Victor Kislyi even likes to say that World of Tanks is the greatest tank museum in the world. It’s interesting then that the World of Tanks console team – based stateside in Chicago, IL at Wargaming West – chose an alternate history setting for their most recent trilogy of single-player PvE “War Stories”. “The idea is, in 1942 the Axis didn’t make nearly as many mistakes as they did,” World of Tanks Console narrative designer Darold Higa says. “So Midway didn’t decisively destroy the Japanese carrier fleet and Hitler was much more conservative in his advance into the Soviet Union. This twin factor extends the war. The US enters, but decides on a … [Read more...] about Personifying metal and playing as a Nazi turncoat – how World of Tanks is telling War Stories
