Fall Guys Is Headed To Switch And Xbox In June, And The Game Is Going Free

May 16, 2022 by www.gamespot.com

Fall Guys is finally heading to Xbox and Nintendo Switch and the game is adopting a free-to-play business model. Following a delay, developer Mediatonic has announced that the whimsical battle royale game will arrive on the new platforms June 21, which is also when the game goes free. There will be full cross-play and cross-progression supported (across Xbox and Switch, as well as PS4 and PS5, which is also adopting a free business model in June), thanks to the game using Epic's Online Services functionality--Epic owns Mediatonic and the Fall Guys property. A new Fall Guys season is also launching on June 21, and it promises to be the "most jam-packed and blunderful season yet," Mediatonic said. Players can expect "stacks of new challenges and rewards," as well as "major updates" to the game's progression systems. What's more, Mediatonic is launching a new in-game currency called Show-Bucks with the new season launch. Additionally, Mediatonic announced that existing Fall Guys … [Read more...] about Fall Guys Is Headed To Switch And Xbox In June, And The Game Is Going Free

Multiple Silent Hill Projects Are Rumored To Be In Development

May 16, 2022 by www.gamespot.com

Silent Hill rumors continue to swirl. Following last week's leaked Silent Hill art , journalist Jeff Grub and leaker NateTheHate2 took to Twitter to comment on two pieces of information they've heard from sources. The first is that Konami is likely working on multiple Silent Hill Games--including a mainline title and side "stories." The second allegedly confirms Bloober Team's involvement in a Silent Hill title--Silent Hill 2 Remake. The remake will receive reworked puzzles, new endings, and could possibly be a timed PlayStation exclusive. This is the stuff I've heard, and it comes from multiple different sources. Not all of my sources are primary, but everything is mostly lining up. To me, the biggest indicator is the stuff I've seen lines up with Konami doing a big reveal at E3 last year before it pulled out. https://t.co/GzUb3jzrwX — Jeff Grubb (@JeffGrubb) May 16, 2022 VGC also says that its sources support such claims. Bloober Team has long been rumored to … [Read more...] about Multiple Silent Hill Projects Are Rumored To Be In Development

Dune’s new-gen open-world survival game resurfaces with new details

May 12, 2022 by www.gamesradar.com

Funcom has revealed a few more details on its open world survival game set in the Dune universe, which will be the studio's "most ambitious project yet." The devs are currently referring to this as the "unannounced Dune survival game," which was previously confirmed as part of a three-game deal between Funcom and Legendary Entertainment signed back in 2019 . The game will be set on Arrakis, and will be focused on multiplayer. Similar to other recent informal game announcements, like Blizzard's survival game and the mobile Call of Duty: Warzone spin-off, Project Aurora , today's announcement seems to be more an effort to recruit new developers than news meant to get players excited. A few more potential details are nestled in those job listings. An Associate Game Director listing notes crafting systems, and the Lead Gameplay Programmer ad notes that the game will be developed on Unreal Engine, with planned releases for PC and console. The World … [Read more...] about Dune’s new-gen open-world survival game resurfaces with new details

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End – the story behind the biggest game of the year

February 24, 2015 by www.gamesradar.com

Everything was Uncharted. You’ll have seen the jokes, no doubt – the ones that pointed out how many games at E3 2012 seemed to be based on an external interpretation of the Naughty Dog design document. That show brought a host of linear games built on tightly scripted spectacle, sacrificing player agency for the whims of a stubborn author. The complaint was aimed at other developers, at an industry in thrall to the cookie cutter, but it stung Naughty Dog by extension as well. Many of those games have since turned out to be nothing like Uncharted. At December’s PlayStation Experience (PSX) event, filmed live in Vegas and streamed around the world, Naughty Dog suggested Uncharted 4 wasn’t, in the E3 2012 pejorative sense of the term, very Uncharted either. Over the course of a day inside the Santa Monica studio, we are shown the proof of it. Within half an hour, game director Bruce Straley has summed it up perfectly. “There’s no one golden path,” he tells us. “It’s not just as simple as … [Read more...] about Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End – the story behind the biggest game of the year

EA's Q4 runs January 1, 2023 and March 31, 2023. Grubb said Survivor will launch in February or March 2023. EA is confirming this. Survivor is believed to be the "Major IP" that EA says is in the works, and the others include a "partner title," a "remake," and a "sports title." EA confirmed a sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order back in January, when the company said developer Respawn would be leading development on that title and two other Star Wars games . Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Sequel Called Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – Report

May 12, 2022 by www.gamespot.com

The sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will reportedly be called Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, according to Grubbsnax host Jeff Grubb. At the end of the May 12, 2022 Grubbsnax episode , a viewer guessed the title of the game as part of a guessing game Grubb had been playing with his chat. Once the correct title was guessed, Grubb asked if someone had told them that before confirming that the title he's heard for the game is indeed Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Spoilers for the end of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order below. If the title is true, it would be an appropriate one. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order followed Cal Kestis, one of the sole remaining Jedi after the Great Purge nearly wiped them out. After hiding for five years, Cal re-emerges and embarks on a journey that sees him come face-to-face with Darth Vader by the end. Though he escapes from the Sith lord and lives to see another day, he doesn't leave without a likely target on his back, which looks like it may be … [Read more...] about Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Sequel Called Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – Report

Netflix Geeked Week Announced, Cyberpunk Anime To Be Featured

May 16, 2022 by www.gamespot.com

Netflix's Geeked Week virtual event is returning pretty soon, and the streaming company has released a new trailer providing an overview of what new content will be teased and featured. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and The Sandman were among the blink-and-you'll-miss-them announcements, news, and first looks at the platform's biggest franchises. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was first announced way back in 2020 by game developer CD Projekt Red. The anime ties into the company's divisive game, and is produced by Studio Trigger, the animation company known for hits like Kill la Kill, Little Witch Academia, BNA: Brand New Animal, and others. Edgerunners is a standalone, 10-episode story that features original characters disconnected from Cyberpunk 2077. While it is an original story, Edgerunners takes place in the same universe, with Night City being a prominent location in the show. In the event trailer above, all that's mentioned about The Sandman, the long-awaited Neil Gaiman adaptation is … [Read more...] about Netflix Geeked Week Announced, Cyberpunk Anime To Be Featured

World Of Warcraft Is Getting A Social Contract In Patch 9.2.5

May 16, 2022 by www.gamespot.com

World of Warcraft's upcoming patch 9.2.5 for its current Shadowlands expansion will introduce a number of changes to Blizzard's MMO, among them a social contract that players will need to accept upon logging in for the first time once the update is live. The new contract is now fully visible on the game's public test realm (via Wowhead ), where players need to scroll down to the button of the contract and accept it or exit the game entirely. While the contract certainly outlines behavior that is against the game's terms of service, such as hate speech, harassment, in-game advertising, and other "disruptive" behaviors, it also encourages players to play as a team, make friends, and help answer questions new players may have. As the contract is currently on the PTR, it is subject to change. "It's a big world out there, with all sorts of people in it," the current contract states. "So please try to be respectful of each other, and if you ever feel like somebody is acting against the … [Read more...] about World Of Warcraft Is Getting A Social Contract In Patch 9.2.5

Sony will match Insomniac’s $50,000 donation to abortion non-profit

May 16, 2022 by www.gamesradar.com

Insomniac Games will reportedly donate $50,000 to abortion nonprofit WRRAP following internal debate at Sony, which is now said to be matching the studio's donation and additionally working to financially support employees who may be forced to travel for reproductive care. That's according to a new report from The Washington Post , which cites an email sent by Insomniac CEO Ted Price following a separate email from PlayStation president Jim Ryan. Last week, Bloomberg reported that Ryan had urged employees to "respect differences of opinion" on the leaked opinion from the US Supreme Court regarding abortion precedent Roe v. Wade. The content and tone of the email, particularly a flippant sign-off from Ryan relaying carefree stories about his pets, are said to have angered many employees. In his email, Price notes that Ryan's directive prompted a "near-60 page" letter sent from Insomniac to PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst, collecting statements calling … [Read more...] about Sony will match Insomniac’s $50,000 donation to abortion non-profit

Take-Two on a potential buyout: “We like being an independent organization”

May 17, 2022 by www.gamesradar.com

Video game companies are being acquired by bigger video game companies at a frightening pace, but it sounds like Rockstar and 2K parent company Take-Two Interactive will remain independent for the time being. In an interview with IGN , Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed some hesitation about a buyout in general while acknowledging that the interests of the company's shareholders are most important. "We're a public company, and we're here for the shareholders," Zelnick said. "That said, our track record of creating value as an independent enterprise is pretty terrific, especially if you exclude the last three months. We think there's plenty of great times ahead, and we like being an independent organization. But we're here for the shareholders." Take-Two itself recently acquired mobile developer Zynga for an earth-shattering $12.7 billion, which had been the biggest acquisition in the video game industry until Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard for nearly $70 … [Read more...] about Take-Two on a potential buyout: “We like being an independent organization”
