A 13-YEAR-OLD from Paisley has won the first qualifier in Estars UK-wide Fortnite championship, putting himself in the running for a £25,000 payday. Roman Rai demolished the competition in Glasgow to book his spot in the London final, which is taking place in March. Roman took out a huge 20 opponents on his way to one victory in the tournament at Celtic Park. Speaking on the win, Roman said; “I couldn’t believe it when I was told I won." "There were so many good players there including people much older than myself." If he wins, he says he'll use the cash to pay for a family holiday to the USA. "In a tournament this size, the average amount of eliminations is usually 10-15 so for Roman to get 20 is remarkable," the organisers said. In the coming weeks there will be more qualifying rounds at the calmer surrounds of Arsenal's Emirate's stadium, Brighton's Amex Stadium, Dublin's Croke Park, Wolves' Molineux ground, St James' Park in Newcastle, The National Stadium in … [Read more...] about 13-year-old in the running to win £25k as UK Fortnite champion after winning Glasgow qualifier
Game console 5 year old
NPD analyst Mat Piscatella recently took the opportunity to talk about the success of PlayStation and according to him the “Traditional Console Cycles are over.” Sony announced recently that PS4 has reached lifetime shipments of 86 millions by now without any signs of decrease. It has even exceeded their expectations. PS4 is now 5 years old but unlike previous gen, it’s not slowing down. Same goes for Xbox One. A curious gamer asked Mat Piscatella about the resistance of current-gen consoles. To which he replied by stating some reasons. “A few reasons… PS4 Pro, strong slate, Fortnite bump, the impact of service based games being the most prominent. And you’re right, normal cyclicality would have sales declining at this point. Xbox One also up big this year for similar reasons. Traditional Console cycles are over.” It’s no doubt that the current gen consoles are still strong. With games like Red Dead Redemption 2, God Of War and upcoming … [Read more...] about Traditional Console Cycles Have Come to an End, Says NPD Analyst
In 2017, I played two new Yakuza games. In 2018, I’ve played two more, with a Fist of the North Star spinoff on the way. The latest, Yakuza Kiwami 2, is a modernized remake of Yakuza 2, made in the new Yakuza 6 engine. Life … is good. When the PlayStation 2 version of Yakuza 2 was originally released in North America in 2008, I didn’t dare envision a future so rich with Yakuza content that I could spend two years living almost exclusively in a virtual Japanese neighborhood, immersed in a world of bad-but-good suits, bicycle-smashing brawls and deeply meaningful slot car races. I also couldn’t imagine being among so many other Yakuza initiates — so many friends with whom to share screenshots of business chickens and zombie dances. The world has changed in the time between Yakuza 2 and Yakuza Kiwami 2 — as much as the game itself has changed between iterations. Yakuza Kiwami 2 functions as a sort of “greatest hits” in terms of gameplay. The … [Read more...] about Yakuza Kiwami 2 delivers on the potential of a 10-year-old game
The Last of Us may be five years old, but it’s still the best big game story out there. If you have access to a PlayStation 4 and haven’t played it yet, you should definitely get your hands on the The Last of Us Remastered. Next week at E3, The Last of Us Part 2 will be detailed by publisher Sony. It’s likely to be a strong contender for game of the show, and of the year. Naughty Dog’s writers and developers have proven themselves to be the best high concept video game storytellers in the world. The post-apocalyptic America they created in the original game stands out among a horde of other zombie worlds. It is believable, beautiful and often surprising. At the time of The Last of Us’ release, Polygon’s review acknowledged the game’s strengths as a story, and its relative weaknesses as a slightly samey physical experience of sneaking, shooting, climbing, killing and all the rest of it. In the half-decade since, I’ve played plenty of … [Read more...] about The Last of Us is worth returning to, 5 years later
On Wednesday, PlayStation announced the last batch of free games to PlayStation Plus subscribers for December, bringing to 74 the number of titles it offered in 2017. Were they any good? What would they cost otherwise? In short, what do the numbers say about the value of this PlayStation Plus benefit? We’ll try to answer that question this year as we have the past two years. To that, however, we’ve added a few more questions: How old is the game? Did Sony publish it? What publisher did PlayStation Plus use the most? Did these appear earlier on Xbox Live Games With Gold? These questions may shed light on where these free games programs are headed, particularly as the previous console generation ages. What about Xbox Live Games With Gold? Getting Started In all, there were 74 games in PlayStation Plus’ free games offerings for 2017 (two were PlayStation VR bonuses, and counted among the averages and totals here), with an average Metacritic score of 71.3 and a combined … [Read more...] about PlayStation Plus gave out $1,287 worth of games in 2017.
