“Monolith Soft”, the developer company behind the game “Xenoblade” has posted a new staff recruitment page to hire programmers, designers, technical artists, and other positions to work on a new “Legend of Zelda” game. Monolith Soft, the studio best known for creating the entire Xenoblade series, stated earlier this month that they want to create more new Xenoblade games in the future, including a Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and a sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles X. We have talked more about that here. Although both of those games are fairly different, they each got positive receptions with most gaming audiences. Monolith Soft currently has three working studios based in Japan. Their main one is located in Tokyo, which was the one they used to make Xenoblade games. Monolith Soft is also the developer company that helped in the game design and environments for Breath of the Wild. Their second one is based in Kyoto and is fairly close … [Read more...] about Monolith Developing The Next Legend of Zelda Game for Nintendo?

The video-games industry likes to think of itself as progressive but on the evidence of 2019 you’d suspect it was in the throes of a mid-life crisis. After the 24th, 15th and 13th instalments of Resident Evil, Kingdom Hearts and Far Cry; we await Mortal Kombat 11, Tropico 6 and Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled; a HD update of a 20 year-old kart racer from the publisher that parted ways with Destiny, the shooter that defined the generation. After the summer, the console release schedule turns to mist, where the certainty of a Call of Duty update is all that stands between the games industry sticking two PS Move controllers up its nose and crossing the Atlantic in a Nintendo Labo coracle. This lack of visibility around release schedules isn’t the existential funk that it first appears, however. As Google prepares to unveil its vision for gaming’s future, a new technology war is emerging from the shadows; ahead of a year of key announcements including PS5, two new Xbox … [Read more...] about 10 key battles that will define the future of gaming, as PS5, Google and Xbox Project Scarlett draw near
There have been more Zelda games than Call of Duty games, which is saying something. And while the title might be confusing for anyone new to the series, the simple fact is Zelda has never been the star of her own game. Zelda games have an impossibly deep lore, with alternate timelines and huge reincarnated cycles of prosperity and destruction. They tell the stories of heroes of wisdom, courage and power and their eternal fight for the future of an everchanging land. Zelda always plays an important role in these struggles as the personification of wisdom, but she has never been the hero who saves the day. It’s time that changed. You can play Zelda in other games. Super Smash Bros. has both Zelda and her alter-ego Sheik playable in the game, but she has never been the star of the game series named after her. Instead she is both the support role and the ultimate prize for the player. Zelda, like Mario‘s Princess Peach was one of the original princesses that needed … [Read more...] about Why the Next Zelda Game Should Have Zelda as the Hero
Part of what makes The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild so great is how open-ended and non-linear it is. If you enjoyed this, you may be happy to learn that series producer Eiji Anonuma has come forward to say Nintendo is committed to this strategy, suggesting the next entry in the series will follow a similar format. He told IGN that the reaction to Breath of the Wild's non-linear nature has been eye-opening. "I can't speak to what other people, other companies will do in their own games, but I think for me, especially just in terms of the Zelda series, the incredible freedom that this game offers you and how well that's been received…to me, it means that freedom, that level of freedom is something that needs to be maintained in Zelda games going forward," the producer said. "My eyes have been opened to how important that is."The next Legend of Zelda game is currently in some form of production, but you should not expect it to launch anytime soon. Breath of the Wild is … [Read more...] about Future Zelda Games Will Also Offer “Freedom” Like Breath Of The Wild

Nintendo still has yet to confirm or deny if such an event is in the works, but that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from turning. The latest rumors surrounding the supposed January 11 Nintendo Direct have to deal with The Legend of Zelda franchise, and claim that the next game in the series will be a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening for 3DS. According to the rumors, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is being remade for the 3DS with an open world style more reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The project is reportedly being handled by Grezzo, the studio Nintendo has contracted in the past to work on handheld Zelda games, including the remakes of Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask.
