A Hat In Time DLC Expansions Finally Release For PS4, Xbox One On March 31

· March 24, 2021 ·

Developer Gears for Breakfast has revealed that the Seal the Deal and Nyakuza Metro DLC expansions for A Hat in Time are finally coming to the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game. Both DLC expansions will be available on March 31 at 11 AM PT / 1 PM ET. If you have to choose between one or the other, Seal the Deal is the one you want for new ways to play A Hat in Time. The DLC adds a brand-new chapter, The Arctic Cruise, as well as a punishingly difficult Death Wish mode and local split-screen co-op. Nyakuza Metro is for those looking to spice up their experience with new stickers, flairs, camera filters, badges, and dyes. On top of both the Seal the Deal and Nyakuza Metro DLC, on March 31, A Hat in Time will get next-gen console improvements. With these upgrades, playing the 3D platformer on Xbox Series X|S or PS5 will boost the game to 60fps. In GameSpot's A Hat in Time review , Kallie Plagge writes, "A Hat in Time is slow to start, but it's brimming with the charm and … [Read more...] about A Hat In Time DLC Expansions Finally Release For PS4, Xbox One On March 31

Leading a peasant revolt in Battle Brothers: Part 1

· March 26, 2021 ·

Diary This diary first appeared in PC Gamer magazine issue 353 in January 2021. We do one every month, taking on new challenges and approaching our favourite games from entirely new angles – and letting you know how we got on. The Darklands. A war-scarred waste where everything preys upon the people: orcs, goblins, bandits, corpse-eaters, barbarians, giants, great beasts from direwolf to lindwurm, hell, even the dead come back for us. But the worst monster? The predator that kills more of the peasants than any other? It's a vast parasite, a swollen tick growing fatter off the backsweat of the common man: the nobility. They raised us up for one of their wars, their endless wars, and they said it was to protect our town. Thirty of us volunteered, but they fed us into the maw of battle and only twelve came out alive. The worst part? There were just as many scared, unhappy peasants on the other side. The only people who wanted to be there killing each other were the … [Read more...] about Leading a peasant revolt in Battle Brothers: Part 1

After a disastrous start, Hearthstone’s rewards track is actually pretty good now

· March 24, 2021 ·

Team 5 has been making bold moves over the past year. Hearthstone got a new class for the first time, regular Battlegrounds updates have bolstered the new mode's explosive growth, and we also got a completely reworked reward system, which, uh, didn't go so well. Last November, Blizzard binned the game's outdated rewards system for a seasonal model that followed the battle pass formula of many live games. The launch was messy to say the least, and the community was quick to voice its concerns about how rewarding the new system actually was. Following a major overhaul that fixed the most egregious issues, we're in a much better spot as we near the end of the Year of the Phoenix. Which makes this a good time to reflect on the current pass and look ahead to the goodies in the new one . Off the bat, I'm feeling optimistic about the Year of the Gryphon. Ben "Ridiculous Hat" Goodman did an excellent job of outlining why players were so angry about the season pass initially, so … [Read more...] about After a disastrous start, Hearthstone’s rewards track is actually pretty good now

Cowboy battle royale Grit has horse combat, trains, and a clever take on loot

· April 2, 2021 ·

Name your favorite scene in a western, and there's a good chance that the developers of Grit , a new 100-player battle royale set in the wild west, already have an idea for working it into their game. The classic high noon duel, like in For a Few Dollars More ? When you die, you can win a duel to get back in the game. Riding a horse up to a moving train to take it over, Bandidos -style? Trains and horses were both considered must-haves in Grit. Poker? Yes, even poker—you won't be sitting down mid-match to play a game like Maverick , but Grit's loot system is built around collecting playing cards that represent different weapons. Put together a flush, and you'll earn a perk that sets you apart from the average cowpoke. "The thing that really sealed the western theme for me is when we got horse combat working well," says Bob Berry, co-founder of the new studio behind Grit. "I was like, this isn't just PUBG in the west anymore. It feels like a very different game now, and it's … [Read more...] about Cowboy battle royale Grit has horse combat, trains, and a clever take on loot
