Square Enix dumbfounded naysayers and hopeful fans alike when it announced Final Fantasy VII Remake at E3 2015. Given the resulting hype, you'd think that we would've seen more about the game over the past three years, but apart from a second trailer at PlayStation Experience 2015 a few months later, only rumors and scraps of info have surfaced. We've got our fingers crossed that this will be the year--that E3 2018 will be the event--when the curtain is raised and Final Fantasy VII Remake is properly unveiled. Last year, Final Fantasy 7 Remake ended development at CyberConnect2, and the project was taken in-house at Square Enix. Since then, very little information on the game has been released, but we now know that composer Nobuo Uematsu, who worked on the original game, will be returning for the remake. This is according to Final Fantasy 7 Remake producer Yoshinori Kitase, who confirmed that Uematsu is working on the project. It’s unclear at this point if Uematsu will simply be remastering the tracks he created for the original release, or if he will be creating a brand new soundtrack from the ground-up. The conversation reveals some details about the mysterious Final Fantasy 7 Remake, including a possible release window for the game, as well a when we can expect to hear more about the game. According to the original post on Resetera, a conversation between Kitase and Hamaguchi reveals that they want the game to be done by the 35th anniversary of Final Fantsasy, which will only be in 2023, since the 30th anniversary was in January 2018.
