Stonehearth, Radiant Entertainment's ant farm-esque city builder, was successfully Kickstarted in May 2013. It raised $751,920, more than six times its goal of $120,000. After a string of alpha builds, it launched on Steam Early Access in June 2015, and while it's seen countless updates since, it is still missing several features mentioned in its Kickstarter stretch goals. Radiant Entertainment announced today that development on Stonehearth will end this month, and that several stretch goal features will not be added. "At the end of July, we will exit Stonehearth from Steam Early Access with our 1.0 release," Radiant said in a Steam blog post. "Following that release, most of the team will move on to other projects, though we’ll provide support, modding guidance, and bug fixes through the end of the year." The studio acknowledged that not everything has been added, but says it's happy with where Stonehearth will be once the July update launches. It would seem that after some rumors and teases from Blizzard, Nintendo Switch-wielding fans of the studio’s dungeon-crawling RPG, Diablo 3, can rejoice after all. According to journalist and “industry insider” Marcus Sellars, a Switch port for the game is planned for release in 2019. Sellars tweeted about the game last month, saying that Diablo 3 was in development for the Nintendo Switch with the desire to implement local multiplayer. Since the RPG has a reputation as a multiplayer title, this emphasis makes a lot of sense. Another tweet, this one from Blizzard itself, seemed to taunt fans with a Diablo night light being switched on and off. This seems like a fairly intentional clue to get fans hyped about the potential of the game’s arrival to the Switch, though Blizzard later said the post was simply “a fun engagement piece.” Sweet dreams. pic.twitter.com/tZvCnjjzWb — Blizzard Entertainment (@Blizzard_Ent) February 28, 2018 In … [Read more...] about New Report Says Diablo 3 Switch Port is in the Works
After being in development for over 10 years, Diablo 3 has had quite the rollercoaster journey. While things started off poorly due to major server issues, stingy loot, and an auction house which undermined many core gameplay moments, Blizzard was able to turn the experience around with continuous updates and a well received expansion pack called Reaper of Souls. The company also hasn’t been shy about porting the game to other platforms like the PS4 and Xbox One. It seems the game is likely heading to another popular console if the mysterious Tweet from Blizzard Entertainment is to be believed. The Tweet in question seems innocent enough with a message of sweet dreams and a creepy Diablo head nightlight that would surely give any small child nightmares. The tease comes in quickly as a hand begins to switch the light on and off, which many have begun to speculate is actually a tease for the Nintendo Switch.
