The next big patch for Bethesda's multiplayer RPG Fallout 76 is coming soon, and now developer Bethesda has posted the full patch notes for the December 4 update.As announced previously, this patch will increase the maximum stash storage to 600 pounds, and it could expand further down the road, Bethesda said. You can read our thoughts on the game in our Fallout 76 review, but as a 'living game' there are likely to be many changes over time. For example, during the Fallout 76 beta, we were able to run some initial benchmarks to see how it fares on various GPUs.As with previous Bethesda games, including Skyrim, Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Fallout 4, the game was locked to 60fps by default, but you could remove that by editing the Fallout76prefs.ini and settings iPresentInterval=0. That created other problems if your FPS was too high, however, and anything beyond about 144fps would cause substantial acceleration to the game logic.Bethesda's short-term solution was to lock the framerate to 63 fps, a value apparently chosen to accommodate the engine's 64Hz tick rate for updating AI and physics. First Fallout 76 Patch Ends Up Being 47 Gigabytes On Consoles, Replaces Lots Of Stuff
To add to the various woes coming to Fallout 76, the first Fallout 76 patch to come out since the game released nearly a week ago on November 14 has come out today. It’s a whopping 47 gigs on consoles, and appears to replace a lot of pre-existing code that was already in the game. Being a typical Bethesda game, Fallout 76 had a lot of bugs on it already when it first released, even in its beta. The first Fallout 76 patch, however, seems like it’s intended to not only fix these bugs but also add a few new things. The game on the Playstation 4 initially was 53.04 gigabytes. Now, after the patch, the game has only increased in size a little bit, to 53.23 gigabytes. All of the new data is likely referring to the various new additions, while despite the size of the patch at 47 gigs, the game hasn’t gotten any bigger, so this seems more like a bug-fix and quality-of-life patch than anything.
