Recommend a TV show to anyone nowadays and you’ll no doubt be greeted with looks of despair and guilt and shouts of ‘there’s too much good TV’ and ‘I can’t get through it all’. It’s a nice problem to have, but it’s true that with the golden age of television our viewing schedules have become A LOT busier. It’s almost become a full time job trying to keep up. I certainly wouldn’t like to admit the excellent TV shows I’ve missed this year (*cough* Killing Eve, Bodyguard... *cough*), but it’s not just about the best TV around. Obviously, we love talking about that too, but we also want to know what TV show you binged the most this year, whether it was one of the best, or a little-known series that took you by surprise. The GR team has done the same below, revealing the series they watched the most, from big water cooler TV blockbusters to guilty pleasure viewing. Who knows, maybe you’ll discover the new … [Read more...] about What TV shows did you binge the most this year?

The world’s gone crazy. Every day the news is full of the latest bizarre Brexit plot twist, or jawdropping revelation from Trump, or global warming apocalypse omens. You’d think TV scriptwriters would throw in the towel trying to keep up. Instead, TV’s new golden age of drama continued very healthily in 2018. Established shows like Better Call Saul, BoJack Horseman, and Doctor Who still managed to innovate and surprise, while new series, such as Killing Eve and Altered Carbon, were re-energising what we all thought were well-worn genres. But in this era of binge-watch TV and novel-style arc plotting over entire series, it’s becoming more difficult for individual episodes – other than premieres and finales – to stand out. Nevertheless, many still do. Some manage it by ripping our hearts out. Some manage it by shaking up the format. Some manage it with truly out-there concepts. Some set the internet alight with speculation. Some are just … [Read more...] about SFX magazine presents its top 20 TV episodes of 2018
A Star Wars live-action TV show has been hovering around fans’ wishlists for decades, and now it’s actually happening. Set in the era between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens – a period largely untouched by existing Star Wars movies, TV, books, and comics – Star Wars: The Mandalorian features a lone gunfighter, who just happens to have taken style tips from the most famous, infamous bounty hunter of them all, a certain Boba Fett. And The Mandalorian TV show cast will reportedly be led by Game of Thrones’ Pedro Pascal (AKA Oberyn Martell, AKA the Red Viper) as the man in the suit, which gives the series serious star power.Far from the lawmakers of the New Republic, Star Wars: The Mandalorian is set on a Wild West-style frontier, light years from civilization. For fans of the original trilogy yearning for the criminal underworld of the Mos Eisley Cantina and Jabba’s Palace – the sort of space western where smugglers shoot first, and good … [Read more...] about Star Wars: The Mandalorian TV show casts Game of Thrones’ Pedro Pascal

San Diego Comic-Con 2018 is nearly upon us, and the oncoming onslaught of debuts, reveals, and media morsels can feel almost as overwhelming as being on the convention floor itself. While last year’s convention schedule was jam-packed (Infinity War! Black Panther! Westworld!), SDCC 2018’s programming slate feels considerably more fan-friendly. With no major Marvel Studios panel scheduled this year (and thus no new Captain Marvel or Avengers 4 information), no giant Game of Thrones surprises planned, and a number of obvious suspects sitting out the proceedings, SDCC 2018 feels a bit lighter than usual. Which isn’t to say that this year’s convention won’t be equal parts exhilaration and exhaustion — we still have four days full of announcements and trailers that’ll have people talking. Polygon will be covering all things Comic-Con over the next four days, but to keep up with everything, here are our picks for panels most likely to produce the … [Read more...] about Every 2018 San Diego Comic-Con panel you want to watch out for
