TESLA cars could be free to operate completely autonomously as soon as this year – and certainly by "next year at the latest". That's the bold claim from car chief Elon Musk, who reckons his driverless motors will be even better than you on the road. Musk has been talking up the prospect of fully self-driving Tesla cars for years. In 2015, he event predicted that fully autonomous cars would be ready within two years, and said it was a "much easier problem than people think it is". That timeline was missed, but Musk now believes he's nearly ready to put driverless Tesla vehicles on the road. "To me right now, this seems 'game, set and match'," Musk bragged in an interview with MIT researcher Lex Fridman – as spotted by Ars Technica. "I could be wrong, but it appears to be the case that Tesla is vastly ahead of everyone," Musk added, in a jab to rivals. Tesla cars already have some autonomous features – and can navigate motorways largely autonomously. But a fully … [Read more...] about Elon Musk says Tesla cars will be ‘fully driverless’ by 2020 – and boasts they’ll drive better than YOU

The mid-sized sport utility vehicle will offer a 230-mile battery range and 66-feet of cargo space, though high-end versions of the cutting-edge motor could cost as much as $60,000. These more expensive versions of the Model Y might ship as soon as 2020, according to the company, but Tesla’s auto-pilot software will incur an additional charge. However, all Tesla Model Y whips will come with a panoramic glass roof – one of thje car Tesla’s auto-pilot software and colours other than the standard black version of the vehicle are also set to incur an additional charge. According to Musk, the Model Y: “Will be able to do basically anything by the end of this year, just with software upgrades.” Previous Tesla cars such as the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model X have suffered production delays – with the Tesla Model 3 taking three years from launch to shipping. But at the Model Y’s reveal, Musk promised that the new Tesla car will be manufactured faster … [Read more...] about Tesla Model Y revealed by Elon Musk – and the all-electric SUV isn’t cheap
NASA is locked in a race to Mars with Elon Musk after vowing to put humans on the Red Plant in 25 years. The US space agency is researching how to help mankind survive in a martian mission that will subject space explorers to deadly radiation, vision loss and cause bones to crumble. Former NASA astronaut Tom Jones said: "The cost of solving those means that under current budgets, or slightly expanded budgets, it's going to take about 25 years to solve those." The current date set by governments for man's first steps on Mars is in the late 2030s. Meanwhile, Elon Musk has his eyes on a Mars mission, with supporters - including Brit astronaut Tim Peake - saying he could get us there within 20 years. He also has pledged to send humans to Mars by 2024 in bold plan to make humanity an ‘interplanetary species’. In February, his Space X program launched a demonstration flight to the Mars orbit - and even sent a Tesla car hurtling towards the Red Planet. At an … [Read more...] about NASA in space race with Elon Musk as they vow to put humans on Mars in 25 years
ELON MUSK has tweeted that he's building a cyborg dragon, whatever that means. The Tesla and SpaceX chief offered no explanation about the barmy invention. Let's pause for a second and break that down literally: a cyborg is a being with organic and mechanical body parts, and a dragon is a mythical animal usually portrayed as a scaly, fire-breathing serpent. Definitions aside, we're still no closer to getting to the bottom of this blunt, but also strangely cryptic, tweet. Musk has played with fire before, building a Boring flamethrower (which takes its name from the droll title of his tunnel-drilling firm) and flogging it for £355. All 20,000 units of the insane (and wholly irresponsible) tool were snapped in just four days. Oh btw I’m building a cyborg dragon— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) April 25, 2018 He's also taken to Twitter to unveil Boring hats and Tesla tequila – so is this cyborg dragon just the latest in a line of Musk merch? And will it be available to the … [Read more...] about Elon Musk says he’s building a ‘cyborg dragon’ – should we be worried?
Less than two months ago, Rockstar launched The Doomsday Heist update for GTA Online, in which players drove flying cars, deployed high tech weaponry, and generally performed all kinds of crazy stunts at the behest of an enigmatic multi-billionaire tech entrepreneur called Avon Hertz, who wants to save the world. Yesterday, Elon Musk, an enigmatic multi-billionaire tech entrepreneur who wants to save the world, launched a car into space; which is basically the next closest thing to an actual flying car (and no, I'm not counting those ones that can hover around the same speed as a forlorn snail). Can you spot the resemblance? Grand Theft Auto 5 players certainly could, and were more than happy to make their comparisons between yesterday's SpaceX launch and the kind of bonkers madness you can accomplish in Rockstar's open-world crime-fest. Let's offer some context first; the launch of the Falcon Heavy represented the most powerful rocket in operation shooting off into … [Read more...] about Elon Musk launched a car into space, and GTA 5 players can’t get enough of it
