The Obi-Wan Kenobi series proves Darth Vader needs his own Disney Plus show

June 22, 2022 by www.gamesradar.com

Warning: Spoilers for Obi-Wan Kenobi ahead! Turn back now if you haven't seen the entire series! Obi-Wan Kenobi has proved once and for all that Darth Vader deserves his own spin-off show. Now, hear me out, you might be thinking that the Skywalker Saga already contains more than enough Vader, but – as the Obi-Wan show has proved – there's always more story to tell. In fact, Obi-Wan Kenobi had some of the best Darth Vader scenes ever. Whether the Sith Lord was tearing transports from the sky , dragging Obi-Wan through flames , or simply opening his eyes in a bacta tank , the internet could not get enough. We've never seen Vader quite like this before: even in Rogue One , which saw him slice through countless Rebels on a quest to recapture the Death Star plans, he wasn't quite as terrifying as the Vader we saw slaughtering his way through a village or besting a vengeful Reva using only the Force. Unleashing Vader in his own spin-off would let us see even … [Read more...] about The Obi-Wan Kenobi series proves Darth Vader needs his own Disney Plus show

Deadpool 3 Writers Give An Update And Discuss Disney’s Influence

June 7, 2022 by www.gamespot.com

Deadpool 3 remains in development, and now writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have provided a status update on the project, including new commentary regarding Disney's influence. Speaking to The Playlist , Reese said, "We're in the laboratory working on it with Ryan Reynolds all the time, and we're very much entertaining ourselves." "So, hopefully, that translates and ultimately will entertain the world. But you know, it's a marriage between Fox and Disney and it's two different universes and it's not easy," Reese said. "But it's also a wonderful challenge and, you know, high-class problems to be able to merge those, those worlds. So, we're enjoying it." One of the sticking points with Deadpool 3 is figuring out the "bureaucracies" of it all from the shift from Fox to Disney as part of Disney's massive acquisition. But Reese sounded confident that things are in order for a smooth transition. "It was Fox, all these different people, and now it's not those people anymore. It's … [Read more...] about Deadpool 3 Writers Give An Update And Discuss Disney’s Influence

More Star Wars Are Coming, As EA Will “Double Down” On The Franchise

June 28, 2020 by www.gamespot.com

With Star Wars, EA has one of the most sought-after licenses in all of entertainment--and the company plans to take full advantage of it. In a "fireside chat," EA executives spoke about how the company plans to "double down" on Star Wars after the huge success of Star Wars: Battlefront 1 and 2 , Galaxy of Heroes , and Jedi Fallen Order more recently. That continues with a new game out this October, and it sounds like a return to space combat will just be the start of EA's new plans for the franchise. This is despite several canceled projects over the years, including a scrapped third-person action game that resembled the also-canceled Star Wars 1313 . "Up is my hope--up and to the right," EA CEO Andrew Wilson said about where he hopes the company will take Star Wars in the future. "We have a tremendous relationship with Disney. We have a tremendous relationship with Lucas. We have a longstanding relationship with them going all the way back to Star Wars The Old Republic … [Read more...] about More Star Wars Are Coming, As EA Will “Double Down” On The Franchise

Hayden Christensen says he saw “glimpses of Padmé” in Obi-Wan Kenobi’s young Leia actor

June 23, 2022 by www.gamesradar.com

Hayden Christensen has praised Vivien Lyra Blair's performance as young Leia in Obi-Wan Kenobi . Blair played a 10 year old Leia Organa in the show, who ended up on an adventure across the galaxy with the titular Jedi Master. "I was just thrilled at seeing young Leia in this story and how's she's represented," Christensen told E! News (opens in new tab) . "I think they really imbued the character with all the qualities that make that character great. And young Vivien has done such a great job of bringing her to life." He added: "For me, that's been part of the fun of it, is just getting those little glimpses of Padmé, which I do get." Obi-Wan Kenobi recently wrapped up its 6 episode run on Disney Plus. Though there's been no confirmation of an Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 , Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy is definitely open to the idea . "Well, frankly, we did set out to do that as a limited series," she said. But I think if there's huge engagement and … [Read more...] about Hayden Christensen says he saw “glimpses of Padmé” in Obi-Wan Kenobi’s young Leia actor

How Elden Ring, The Hobbit, and Guitar Hero are shaping Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn

June 21, 2022 by www.gamesradar.com

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, the upcoming Soulslike from A44 Games, is a melting pot of ideas and inspirations. For one, it's the indirect follow-up to the developer's 2018 action role-player Ashen – a thoughtful slant on the genre which, whilst far from revolutionary, is a wonderful example of the formula executed well. The New Zealand outfit's next outing is also a Soulslike game, built in the looming shadow of Elden Ring – the biggest, most ambitious project Dark Souls mastermind FromSoftware has ever crafted, one which has undoubtedly set a new standard for other genre games to be compared against. And, in a previous life, members of the A44 Games team worked at Weta Digital, a special effects studio who helped bring the fantastical beasts of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit film series to life. Which is to say: the DNA that underwrites Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is multifaceted. And while creating a straight Ashen sequel might have an easier proposition for the developer's … [Read more...] about How Elden Ring, The Hobbit, and Guitar Hero are shaping Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn

Superman: Space Age is historical fiction about ‘hope against the backdrop of hopelessness’

June 24, 2022 by www.gamesradar.com

The DC Universe has seen its fair share of Crises , including the current Dark Crisis , but none are more iconic than 1985's Crisis on Infinite Earths. That's why it's the endpoint for Mark Russell and Mike Allred's Superman: Space Age , a three-part limited series that explores Superman's life in the context of real-world historical events, all leading up to Crisis. Each graphic novel-length entry in Superman: Space Age explores a different decade of Superman's history, starting with the '60s. As Clark Kent struggles to follow advice from both of his fathers – Jor-El and Jonathan Kent – the world around him approaches a major turning point in which the simple click of a button could change everything. Ahead of the publication of Superman: Space Age #1 in July, Newsarama spoke with Russell and Allred about Crisis, hope, and what Superman means to them. (opens in new tab) Samantha Puc for Newsarama: Mark and Mike, what inspired you to want to return to Crisis … [Read more...] about Superman: Space Age is historical fiction about ‘hope against the backdrop of hopelessness’
