Last week, a 4chan post (archived on ResetEra here) purporting to have inside knowledge of Destiny 3's development spread around the Destiny community like wildfire thanks to such wild claims as a 12-man raid and a Cabal-Fallen alliance. New input from known Destiny leaker AnonTheNine, who correctly predicted huge Forsaken details and multiple returning Exotics, has now been mixed into the discussion via a Reddit post on Destiny 3 and Destiny 2's upcoming Penumbra DLC, which will allegedly focus on new Darkness enemies and Calus respectively. In now-deleted posts and comments, AnonTheNine previously said Destiny 3 will be "even more hardcore" and "push the RPG side of the game." They also said the sequel will feature new enemies and abilities powered by the Darkness - the background antagonist of the Destiny universe - as well as PvPvE zones out in the wild. The latest leaks support all of these claims and flesh them out with new information, including story and faction … [Read more...] about Rumor: Destiny 3 will double down on the Darkness and Destiny 2: Penumbra will take us back to the Leviathan

Humanity is a self-destructive species, and Destiny 2: Forsaken is credible evidence that we’re probably doomed. Fortunately, Forsaken is also the best update possible for Bungie’s MMO-lite shooter, adding fantastic new modes, new weapons, new missions, and new purpose to a game that had fallen flat a few months after launch even amongst its most hardcore fans.So there’s some good news, at least. To understand how it highlights the flaw in our species’ brain patterns, though, we need to look back at the launch of Destiny 2, and its simplified loot system. Bungie’s game is ostensibly about shooting — chunky, explosive, great-feeling shooting — but it’s just as much about loot. Where the first game (only ever released on console) spat out random gear with random perks at seemingly random intervals, its sequel adopted a vending machine system: tokens were earned for playing the game, and could be exchanged for a small pool of weapons and … [Read more...] about Has Destiny 2 been improved by its updates?

The final boss of Destiny 2's Spire of Stars raid, the impossible-to-pronounce Val Ca'uor, is one of the most difficult fights in Destiny's history. Players have to defend multiple objectives and activate several plates with precise timing, pass energy orbs around like a game of high-stakes hot potato, ride tractor cannons into space and dunk on warships, and cram as much ass-kicking as possible into a narrow DPS window, all while wading through a never-ending river of adds. It's nuts. Even experienced, max-level raiders struggle to beat the Spire of Stars consistently, so imagine how difficult the fight would be if your entire team was unable to use voice chat to call out the fight's many stages and commands. That's the challenge Destiny 2 clan BAM Optical Raiders took on, and earlier this week, they triumphed over Val Ca'uor. Here’s how they did it.Some responses edited for clarity and length."It took us about 20 attempts in four weeks," Jason, the founder of BAM Optical … [Read more...] about Meet the deaf Destiny 2 players who raid using a custom-made comms app
A hidden message in the Curse of Osiris expansion has been discovered by Destiny 2 players, revealing a warning regarding the set-up for the upcoming Forsaken expansion that was left unheeded. The Destiny Ghost Stories Lore Discord community reportedly received a hot tip about undiscovered lore in a Curse of Osiris weapon. After “a lot of digging and discussion” the message CROW UNTRUSTWORTHY DESIRES POWER was decoded from the lore tab of Destiny 2‘s Telesto Exotic Fusion Rifle. For those unfamiliar with Destiny 2‘s Forsaken expansion, what’s been revealed so far involves the Awoken named Uldren Sov performing a jailbreak in the Prison of Elders. Uldren Sov, as Destiny players may recall, was the Queen of the Reef‘s advisor and brother. The “Crows” were Uldren’s Awoken intelligence network, with Uldren himself being known as the Master of the Crows. Here’s where things get interesting. The decoded message isn’t just … [Read more...] about Destiny 2 Weapon Revealed Forsaken Expansion Story
