IF YOU'RE on the hunt for a new smartphone, you'll soon have another tantalising candidate to consider: the OnePlus 6. The flagship killer lands in the UK on Tuesday, May 22 with the Samsung Galaxy S9 squarely in its sights. Both are Android handsets with matching looks, but that's where the similarities end. So which one deserves your hard-earned dosh? Here's a quick guide to the two handsets. OnePlus 6 – what you really need to know The OnePlus 6 is the first OnePlus to pack an all-glass back and its 6.28-inch fullHD AMOLED display is also the biggest ever for the brand. That makes it about the same size as the Galaxy S9+. What's more, it comes with the lower price tag we've come to expect from OnePlus. At £469 for the 64GB storage model, the smartphone is significantly cheaper than its flagship rivals. As is fast becoming the norm, the new blower trims down the borders (although it still doesn't manage to pull off the same all-screen front as the iPhone X). And like … [Read more...] about OnePlus 6 vs Samsung Galaxy S9 – which of the two Android smartphones should you buy?

IS Planet Nine real? Is it a super-Earth-sized world? And will it usher in the apocalypse? We may be closer to answering all those questions thanks to a new discovery. While astronomers have yet to dig up evidence of the planet, they've found another indirect link of its existence in the form of a newly spotted space rock. The small solar system body has a wonky orbit that the boffs claim can only have been triggered by a bigger planet hiding out in the galaxy, reports Quanta. Planet Nine is a gigantic icy planet believed to be ten times larger than Earth and 20 times farther away from the sun than Neptune. Conspiracy theorists recently claimed that a similar world called Nibiru was going to plunge into Earth on April 23 and trigger a Biblical-level apocalypse. But that obviously didn't happen. And while Nasa has said that it's "closing in" on Planet Nine, it has repeatedly denied Nibiru's existence, even branding it a falsification. The space agency has also put forth five bits of … [Read more...] about New Planet Nine evidence may finally solve the riddle of the mysterious super-world’s existence
H1Z1 | PC, PS4, Xbox One After three years and change in its buggy early access form, H1Z1 emerged this past February an entirely new game. The original single-player zombie survival mode was renamed Just Survive while the more popular King of the Hill multiplayer battle royale mode took over the H1Z1 title. As a standalone battle royale experience, H1Z1 feels stripped-down compared to its contemporaries. Missing are the base-building aspects of Fortnite and PUBG’s gun attachments. Aside from a basic crafting function, it’s essentially run-and-gun until the time runs out. Combined with its multi-platform availability and the fact that it’s now entirely free to play, H1Z1 is one of the more accessible battle royale games out there. Surviv.io | PC Browser If PUBG’s uber-realistic graphics turn you off, this top-down internet browser game is certainly a different direction. In it, you take control of a yellow circle with two smaller circles as your fists, fighting … [Read more...] about Best Games Like Fortnite: The Best Fortnite Alternatives You Can Download
Update: So as promised in our earlier article, we’ve published the report and conclusion (or the lack of it) below regarding Trump’s meeting about violent video games and their link to creating potential criminals and inspiring violent behavior in people. The meeting was held at the White House with executives from popular gaming companies like Take-Two Interactive Studios and Bethesda. An interesting clip was put out borrowing portions from some of the ‘violent’ video games and it includes moments from the Call of Duty series and other first-person shooters which you can check out below: Seriously, that’s the best they could do? I was expecting something out of ‘Hatred’ or something, would’ve made more sense at least. Anyways, no clear-cut conclusion was reached despite some attempts from some anti-video game authors who were desperate to link violent behaviors in teenagers to video games. The meeting was focused more on … [Read more...] about Trump And The Power Of Violent Video Games
As you may already have spotted, Theme Hospital joins the legions of 90s PC games being blessed with 21st century spiritual sequels. The Sega-published Two Point Hospital is the first game from Two Point Studios, the new endeavour from Bullfrog and Lionhead alumni Gary Carr and Mark Webley, Their plan, ultimately, is to follow-up Hospital with a clutch of other theme/sim/management games set in the same world – picking up, perhaps, where the Peter Molyneux-founded Bullfrog left off when EA closed them down. I chatted to Carr, Webley and Two Point technical director Ben Hymers (himself an ex-Lionheader) about why they’re returning to Theme Hospital, why now, the importance of humour to it, what’s the same and what’s different, how the audience has changed since 1997, how they’ve been inspired by Prison Architect, Planet Coaster and Twin Peaks, and their plans for that world of sim games. Gary Carr, co-founder: I’ve been in the industry since 1985, … [Read more...] about “We want to build out a world of sim games” How Two Point Hospital is a step toward bringing Bullfrog-era sim games back from the dead
