Vader has proven a powerful force across a number of various Star Wars comic series, with the upcoming series marking the third series focusing on Vader since Disney purchased Lucasfilm, as the first series debuted in 2015 from writer Kieron Gillen and the previous series coming from writer Charles Soule, both of which ran for 25 issues. In the upcoming series, "In the shattering climax of [Star Wars:] The Empire Strikes Back, Darth Vader infamously reveals his true relationship to Luke Skywalker and invites his son to rule the galaxy at his side. The 1977 page is dedicated to Star Wars #1, the first-ever Star Wars comic book, which became the first Marvel comic book since the Golden Age to sell more than 1 million copies. By Patrick Cavanaugh - September 12, 2019 05:20 pm EDT Share 0 Comments 0 When the first teaser for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker debuted, fans were shocked to hear the signature laugh of Emperor Palpatine, igniting vast amounts of speculation about how he could be featured in the new film after his death in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Theories regarding the character's return have run a wide gamut, including ideas that Palpatine has inhabited objects and people, that he exists in other dimensions, or that the Force somehow resurrected him. As seen with Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, and Luke Skywalker, "dying" is merely a transition from one state of being to another to those … [Read more...] about Star Wars: Did Emperor Palpatine Ever Actually Die?
Writer Greg Pak and Artist Phil Noto’s eight-issue tenure on Marvel’s Star Wars comic ends this week, and things have only just started getting interesting for Han Solo and Leia Organa. Issue #75 ends with the rebels hustling off to Hoth to set up for the events of the big battle there, and along the way they make friends with some very big rock people. It’s all played out at massive scale, with moon-sized aliens swatting Imperial star destroyers into smithereens. If you are a fan of giant kaiju-like space slugs and the like, you’re in for a treat. This issue also has an interesting vignette, especially set against the dinner scene in Empire Strikes Back where Leia and Han realize Darth Vader has laid a trap for them. At one point we see Luke, Leia, Han, and Chewie all gunning full bore for an injured Darth Vader. Vader deftly blocks their blasts, only to limp back to his shuttle to heal himself. I’m not sure if the scene works to completely invalidate … [Read more...] about Marvel’s Star Wars comic run ends, but things just got interesting for Han and Leia
