This story has been updated with fresh information from CD Projekt Red. Cyberpunk 2077 might have been one of the most visually striking games to hit our eyeballs during E3 2018, but the latest build is running smoothly on current-gen PC hardware. CD Projekt Red has detailed the rig it ran the gameplay demo on behind closed doors, but despite demo-ing the game on a 4K TV, it has now confirmed it was only rendering at 1080p. Cyberpunk 2077 was easily one of the standout games from E3, and we’ve been waiting for more details of CD Projekt Red’s next RPG masterpiece since it dropped the original teaser bomb way back in 2013. But not only did we get a great new trailer, our Matt got behind the scenes to sit in on an hour of proper gameplay on PC too. Looks like you’re going to need a better screen… Check out our pick of the best 4K gaming monitors around today. When Matt stumbled out into the light of day after his demo he was positive that, given the sheer scale … [Read more...] about Cyberpunk 2077’s 1080 Ti-powered E3 demo only managed 30fps at 1080p… but that’s okay
Cyberpunk 2077 pre alpha
Cyberpunk 2077 made its gameplay debut at E3 2018 during Microsoft’s press event. Soon after the gameplay trailer went live some retailers started taking preorders for the anticipated game. But only recently, we found out the game is in its alpha which means it is going to take a few more years before the game comes out. Taking pre-orders for a game that’s in Alpha seems a bit odd but some retailers don’t really care (Bring in the money!). The game is currently available to pre-order at EB Games Australia and MightyTape. You can get the game for $128 from EB Games while Mightytape is selling it for $92. Since there are still a few years to go and details are very limited at the time, it makes no sense to pre-order the game so early. Cyberpunk 2077 has been in development since 2012 at CD Projekt RED. However, the development on the game didn’t properly start until the release of Blood and Wine DLC back in 2016; so what we saw at E3 2018 was an alpha as result. … [Read more...] about Why Are Some Retailers Taking Pre-Orders for Cyberpunk 2077?
According to CD Projekt RED, the Cyberpunk 2077 demo at E3 2018 was a pre-alpha demo, and it’s likely that a few more years are going to be needed before the game can really be called finished. Since we’ve waited for multiple years now, according to CDPR, we can wait a few more years. Cyberpunk 2077’s first trailer was first released in 2012, and even then the game didn’t get very much attention from CDPR on account of the success of CD Projekt RED’s Witcher series of video games. Now that the Witcher series is well and truly wrapped up, we’ll most likely get more regular progress updates on the game, but who knows how far away the full game releasing will be. CDPR has previously said that Cyberpunk 2077 will be coming out in this console generation, rather than in the next generation of game consoles. But if we still have to wait several years, by the time the game comes out it’s possible that we’ll likely be in the next generation, … [Read more...] about Cyberpunk 2077 Demo At E3 Was A Pre-Alpha, A Few More Years Are Needed
If Cyberpunk 2077 was far enough along to show a 50-minute chunk of the game at E3 2018, it must be pretty close to done, right? Uh… no. Probably not. The part of Cyberpunk 2077 that CD Projekt Red showed off shouldn't even be considered an alpha version, according to parent company CD Projekt, and that's yet another sign the game has quite a while longer to go. VG24/7 spotted a new interview with the company on Polish business site Bankier, taken from a Warsaw showing of the same behind-closed-doors demo that impressed us and many others at E3 2018.When Bankier asked CD Projekt president Adam Kiciński if the demo could be considered "alpha" gameplay, he responded, via Google Translate: "No, earlier… Therefore, we're showing the game behind closed doors - this is not the final quality yet." I always take automated translations with a grain of salt, but in this case the message is simple enough that it's workable. And it's not unexpected, given everything else the … [Read more...] about Cyberpunk 2077 is still a long way off
If you’ve been wondering exactly why CD Projekt Red hasn’t released the E3 demo of Cyberpunk 2077 to the public, we might just have the answer. While there’s no doubt that the Cyberpunk 2077 demo shown was impressive, CD Projekt Red just doesn’t think the quality is there yet. That’s because the game is still in pre-alpha. When asked by Bankier if the game was still in alpha, CD Projekt president Adam Kiciński said, “No, earlier. Therefore, we show the game behind closed doors – this is not the final quality yet. “This is the most polished part of the game we have now, prepared in some sense to show it to people outside the company.” During E3 2018, Cyberpunk 2020 creator Mike Pondsmith said during an interview with YouTuber YongYea, “I’ve waited 30 years to get this, it was worth it. You guys can wait a few more years.” Here’s the clip: That means the release date for Cyberpunk 2077 is likely still a … [Read more...] about Cyberpunk 2077’s hands-off E3 demo was pre-alpha – “you can wait a few more years”
