Unlike previous entries in the series, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is forgoing a season pass and DLC in favor of a new battle pass system, much like Epic's hit battle royale shooter, Fortnite. The first battle pass has yet to arrive, but according to Activision, it'll be ready to go next month.During its latest quarterly earnings call, Activision revealed that Modern Warfare's first season will kick off sometime in December 2019. The company didn't pin down an exact date, but it did note that time frame is "later than planned."Activision has previously shared a few details on how the new battle pass system will work. There will be both Free and Premium streams of content to earn; the former will let you unlock anything that has an impact on gameplay, such as weapons and attachments, while the latter will only feature vanity items like cosmetics. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's latest DLC fighter, Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury, has finally arrived alongside the game's 6.0 update, but that isn't the only new content for the title this week. Nintendo is also offering another free Spirit Board Challenge Pack for Switch Online subscribers.The Spirit Board Challenge Pack 3 is available now. 2019's Call of Duty, Modern Warfare, reboots the classic sub-series later this year. But you won't have to wait until the game's launch in October to try it out, as the alpha test is available to download and play now for PS4 owners. The test was officially announced during the Gamescom 2019 Opening Night Live event, where it was confirmed that the alpha test for Modern Warfare will take place starting on Friday, August 23 and conclude on Sunday, August 25. It's free for all PS4 players, even those without a PS Plus subscription. [Update: The alpha actually went live sooner than expected, becoming available for players beginning on Thursday.
