Crackdown 3 is nothing like the game Microsoft promised fans in 2014. Back then, the company’s leadership earnestly believed that humongous, everlasting AAA games would buoy the Xbox One. The announcement trailer suggested a sprawling metropolis in which every building — from cottage to skyscraper — could be destroyed, thanks to secretive cloud computing technology. By comparison, the final product is unambitious and familiar. The campaign in particular feels like a true sequel to the original Crackdown, which isn’t a compliment. It feels exactly like an open-world game from 2007. While playing through the game, I’ve been tempted to read Crackdown 3 as a colossal missed opportunity, the latest example of Microsoft failing to deliver on its creative ambitions. PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUND, the battle royale game that kicked off the Battle Royale craze before Fortnite took over, is joining the Xbox Game Pass service. Microsoft confirmed at its XO18 event that the shooter, known as PUBG, was one of several titles set to be added to the service before Christmas. Another fifteen games are also being added before Christmas, with Thief of Thieves available from today. Coming later this month and in early December are MXGP3 and Thomas Was Alone (both expected on November 22) while Ori and the Blind Forest is one of a few indie titles expected in December. Also worth checking out is the utterly bonkers Supermarket Shriek, which one Ukie's Game of the Show award at Gamescom after being one of the titles shown off on the UK gaming trade body's stand at the German mega-show. MICROSOFT has confirmed that it's adding four new scary titles Xbox Game Pass to Xbox Game Pass in time for Hallowe'en. Observer, Hello Neighbor, Dead Island: Riptide, and Outlast have all been added to the library of on-demand games, meaning subscribers have got access to 11 new games this month alone. Dead Island: Riptide is probably the pick of the bunch, especially when played in co-op -- and that's where it being in Game Pass really helps. Because Game Pass games are free to play for everyone who pays the subscription fee, if you and some pals are already signed up, you can all dive in and give Dead Island a go to see if it's your cup of tea. Microsoft has announced some new games which will be added to its Xbox Game Pass service for the month of June. The list includes MotoGP 17, Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 and more.
