Valheim slows down speed planting and the turnip farmers are revolting

· March 24, 2021 ·

Valheim speed planting is gone after a change in the latest Valheim patch notes , and some players are mourning the days of power turnip farming. The change was confirmed in a single line of the update notes: "Added a slight use-delay on Hammer, Hoe & Cultivator". It's not a massive delay, and if you were the kind of Viking farmer to individually position each sprout before you planted it, you might not even notice. But players who had gotten accustomed to strafing down rows of seedlings faster than a spooked deer are sharing their frustration in places like Reddit. Here's a video comparing the planting process before and after the change from one such displeased player. Why you do this to us farmers? from r/valheim It sounds like the change may have been made to cut down on server issues which could arise from players planting crops or constructing/deconstructing items too quickly; all those changes to the world in a short period of time could cause sync issues … [Read more...] about Valheim slows down speed planting and the turnip farmers are revolting

Plants Vs Zombies 2 Original Producer Explains What Went Wrong

· April 9, 2021 ·

Plants vs Zombies 2 wasn't what a lot of fans expected out of a sequel to the classic strategy game, as it was rife with microtransactions that many players said felt like hitting a free-to-play wall. The original producer of the game, Matt Johnston, has opened up about what was going on behind the scenes as those decisions were being made. In an interview with MinnMax , Johnston said that the seed of microtransactions in Plants vs Zombies 2 was part of its original design, with the idea of plant food. This was intended to be a leg up for players who were struggling, as a way to overcome a particular obstacle. In the midst of development, though, his team was suddenly asked to make a slice of the game playable for upper management, for reasons he didn't know at the time. And while the team made the demo, it's at this point that he first expressed some reservations about following a F2P model. "We don't think that's possible without breaking the game," Johnston explained. "The … [Read more...] about Plants Vs Zombies 2 Original Producer Explains What Went Wrong

WandaVision: Arnim Zola could be the real villain pulling the strings

· February 2, 2021 ·

So the last two weeks settle it. Wanda herself is the big bad of WandaVision, right? After Marvel purposely let viewers flirt with theories about Agatha Harkness and Mephisto and even the Grim Reaper for weeks, the Scarlet Witch's full-on heel turn along with Monica Rambeau's "It's all Wanda" declaration at the end of episode 4 seems pretty straightforward. Episode 5 and its crazy ending didn't do much to dissuade us from the notion that it's "all Wanda." Suffering from post-traumatic stress, Wanda has turned her grief over the deaths of both Pietro in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Vision in Infinity War inward and manipulated reality in a doomed attempt to live out an idyllic suburban life in Westview, New Jersey, with Vision. Well, not so fast, because this is Marvel Studios we're talking about, and if Marvel Studios is purposely signaling to viewers who the villain is in episodes four and five, right before the conclusion of the second act in episode six (of nine), … [Read more...] about WandaVision: Arnim Zola could be the real villain pulling the strings

The evolution of Resident Evil’s combat, from clunky tank controls to slick first-person survival horror

· March 18, 2021 ·

Resident Evil is no stranger to mutation. Capcom reflects the unsuspecting citizens of Raccoon City in this respect, genetically morphing over time in response to viral and environmental factors beyond its control. But where those caught up in the aftermath of the Mansion Incident can blame the T-virus for slow decay and eventual regeneration, Capcom doesn't have an Umbrella Corporation of its own to point to. Resident Evil has endured a perpetual cycle of trial and error since it made its debut 25 years ago. It has adapted to change and forced the industry to change alongside it. To look at the evolution of Resident Evil's combat over the last 25 years is to look at a series that isn't afraid to innovate and iterate. The publisher hasn't always been successful in this endeavor, but its willingness to at least try is likely a reason why the Resident Evil series is as potent today as it was when it made its debut in 1996. Glass Tanks Key Games: Resident Evil (1996), … [Read more...] about The evolution of Resident Evil’s combat, from clunky tank controls to slick first-person survival horror

Zack Snyder explains the origins of the “we live in a society” line, plus plans for Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern

· March 19, 2021 ·

Zack Snyder has revealed that he considered including Ryan Reynolds in the Snyder Cut – and also discussed the origins of Jared Leto's Joker saying the infamous "we live in a society" line. Theorizing was rife that Reynolds would appear in Zack Snyder's Justice League , after the actor starred as Hal Jordan in 2011's Green Lantern . Reynolds even poked fun at the rumor, commenting on Twitter: "I’m not playing Hawkman in Black Adam. Although I generally do whatever the hell [The Rock] tells me to do. I would however love to be in Zack Snyder's Justice League movie and I’ve heard I may already be in it? #SnyderCut" I’m not playing Hawkman in Black Adam.
