New to Paladins on PS4 and Xbox One? We’ve got everything you need to get started. Paladins is the first-person shooter from the creators of SMITE, and it’s only just arrived on PS4 and Xbox One as a free game. Having entered into closed beta back in November 2015 on PC and having been in development for some time before that, it has come a long way since it started. It boasts millions of players on PC, so yes, we reckon you should be playing it whatever your format of choice. To get the elephant out of the room early: yes Paladins is similar to Overwatch, but no, they’re nothing alike. For anyone who has played both, they’re vastly different. While there’s surface level similarities, there’s more than enough to differentiate both to such a degree that any immediate comparisons would be incredibly lazy. Anyone who has read my previous coverage on VG247 knows full well I’m an Overwatch fan. However, I’ve played a lot of Paladins and in … [Read more...] about Paladins guide: tips for customising Champions, legendary cards, crafting and more

We took a quick break last week but today Respawn Point has… well… respawned! So much news this week it’s understandable that some of it got missed. We’re here to clean up the mess like your favorite bartender after drunk white chicks who think they’re “party monsters” blow chunks all over the bar on Cinco De Mayo. Informants Snitch on GTA‘s New Criminal Activities Speaking of spew, a lot of GTAV spewed out over the Intert00bZ the past week which Rockstar Games had to quickly clean up. The info flood started with the trailers from each of the three main characters, Huey, Dewey and Louie Michael, Franklin, and Trevor. But that’s where Rockstar wanted the official information to end. But you can’t hide from the Intert00bZ. The news came fast and furious, especially concerning the Heists that make up much of the gameplay in the newest chapter of Grand Theft Auto. Heists are not just going to be in-and-out missions, … [Read more...] about Respawn Point | Week Ending 5.5.13
Hate them or love them, Microsoft Points have been the standard currency for Xbox Live since the inception of the Xbox 360 back in 2005. However, this cash-for-points system could be gone for good by this fall. Microsoft has been considering cutting out the middleman created by Microsoft Points for a while now, and the transition is all but official now. According to The Verge, Microsoft plans on moving towards a more traditional gift-card system by the end of the year. This new transaction system is as straightforward as it gets; Customers can purchase gift cards loaded with actual monetary value, just like they would for a Playstation Network or iTunes gift card. These new gift cards will be universal for all Microsoft products, making them redeemable towards both Xbox Live and Windows Store downloads. The Verge reports that straightforward digital transactions via credit cards and debit cards will also be possible later this year. Gamespot reports that the new currency system will … [Read more...] about Goodbye Microsoft Points, Hello Gift Cards
Update: Cloud Imperium's head of communications David Swofford got in touch to clarify a few points. As various readers have pointed out, the reason for the higher prices is because of VAT laws within the EU: "Euro laws mandate that VAT is included in the price. If Phil had his monitor turned on to US$ currency, then it will show up just as he depicted in his screen capture (assuming he had UK listed as his country). In the US, you aren’t mandated to include sales tax in the selling price, but you can bet that when you get to check-out, that tax will be added (depending on the state where you are purchasing)." In response to our comments that gift cards having VAT included on them meant that buyers were paying double VAT if they used the gift card - once for the gift card, then again on the items they purchased with the gift card - David explained CIG's fix: "The system is engineered explicitly so that you don’t pay double tax. If you apply store credit to an item in … [Read more...] about Star Citizen is selling a $50 gift card for $60… why not spend it on the new $420 Endeavor space ship?
From the too ridiculous to be believed, to things that make you cry when you learn they're a lie, April Fools' Day is a day when it's impossible to trust anything you read. To help you separate fact from fiction, we're rounding up the best jokes we find: Get a job at Google as a Pokemon Master This one's half true. You can catch Pokemon on your iOS or Android device using the Google Maps app right now. However, you're probably not going to get a job at Google just for finding Pokemon on a map. Dark Souls II gets an "easy mode" This one was our own joke, but most of you caught on pretty quick. Of course the notoriously difficult Dark Souls isn't going to be made easier. If anything, future patches will probably make it even more unrelentingly vicious.
