The rumor that Disney might acquire 21st Century Fox’s TV and film divisions has excited lots of sci-fi fans, the biggest constituency being Marvel’s. Such a deal might finally join the X-Men cinematic arc, whose rights Fox controls, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe controlled by Disney. And that’s wonderful. For me, as a Star Wars fan, it could mean that series, by Episode IX in 2019, might again open the way God intended it: With the 20th Century Fox Fanfare with Cinemascope Extension. J.J. Abrams might use a different title card, might arrange the opening credits differently. Additionally, those who are already members can travel to the Game Testing Portal and opt in for selection, though there is no guarantee for admittance into any of the testing periods. We've gone through the official trailers, now we have the first official TV spot advertisement for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.Star Wars' official Twitter sent that out this morning, and the video offers some new and different looks at what has been revealed so far of the film's story. The voice-over appears to be from Lupita Nyong'o's character, Maz Kanata, a pirate to whom we have yet to be formally introduced. Her vocals also featured in the much-discussed Japan trailer that released earlier this week. Absent, still, is Luke Skywalker, not just in form and voice, but note how the main Star Wars theme — which John Williams composed as Luke Skywalker's theme — is not in this at all.Skywalker's theme finished the first teaser, wasn't in the second or the Japan trailer and comes in very slowly at the end of the official trailer. This is deliberate, as director J.J. Abrams has been keeping mum on how Skywalker figures into the movie's story and holding him … [Read more...] about Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ first TV ad features an unfamiliar voice
