"While any copy of this key comic is something special, we think this one stands up extremely well against any we've seen offered to the public," reads Heritage's description of the issue just sold. "The yellows on the cover are clean and unsmudged, and few surviving copies can make that claim. And notice that the back cover is also appealingly clean. The book is also well-centered, with none of the back cover ad wrapping around to the front. Also note that this book has no codes or markings of any sort, which can be said of very few 1939 comics!" … [Read more...] about A record $1.5 million paid for a Batman comic book at auction

Without a lot of those distractions though, 'X of Swords' wouldn't have been as fun or as light as it often was but this issue doesn't have room for 'light' or 'fun.' It needs to be 'weighty' and 'important' and ends up losing some of the charms that this story built up. Hickman, Howard, and Larraz find their hero in Apocalypse only to abandon all of the other characters who have been a part of this story. There's just simply not enough room for them here even if most of them show up in a background of a panel or two. It's not that this is a disappointing end to the larger story but it is disappointing that they had to sacrifice so many of the elements and characters that sustained the previous 21 issues of this event. … [Read more...] about Best Shots review – X of Swords: Destruction #1 a “big, loud, chaotic conclusion”
In the show’s finale, Thrawn faces off with Rebels protagonist Ezra Bridger. While on-board Thrawn’s command ship the Chimaera, Ezra catches Thrawn off-guard by attacking his fleet of ships with purrgil, giant tentacled creatures capable of hyperspace travel. In the final moments of the show, Thrawn and Bridger are both aboard the Chimaera when the purrgil whisk it off into deep space. Though apparently, both of them survive the journey, which is exactly how we get to Thrawn’s mention in The Mandalorian. … [Read more...] about Who is Grand Admiral Thrawn in The Mandalorian?
