Alan Wake Remastered hits Switch this fall
Developer Remedy Entertainment has announced that Alan Wake Remastered is coming to Switch this fall, but previously planned reveals for Alan Wake 2 this summer have been pushed back. Alan Wake Remastered was confirmed as part of an anniversary video released today. Director Sam Lake says "we'll let you know once we have the actual release date," but for now you can look forward to a vague fall launch. Remedy confirms in a press release that this will be a digital-only release, but it will run natively on the Switch hardware - this won't be a cloud port. The devs will show more "in the coming months." The remaster launched on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and S in October 2021. Remedy previously announced plans to show more of Alan Wake 2 this summer, but those plans have fallen through. Don't expect to see the sequel during the E3 2022 schedule , or as part of any of the events rising to take the show's place this summer. "To create a … [Read more...] about Alan Wake Remastered hits Switch this fall
Gears Of War Getting MCC-Style Collection – Report
Microsoft is developing a Halo: The Master Chief Collection-style compilation package themed around Gears of War, according to a new report. Nick Baker of Xbox Era revealed this on a podcast recently. "A while back I said there is another Microsoft franchise that's getting the Master Chief Collection-type treatment, I am of the belief that that is coming this year," Baker said ( via VGC ), adding that this will be Gears of War. The Master Chief Collection launched in 2014 on Xbox One, and it struggled mightily at launch with server issues and other problems. Developer 343 Industries has supported, grown, and evolved the game significantly since then, and it's now in great shape-- even outperforming Halo Infinite on Steam. The package contains all mainline Halo titles (including remastered versions of Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2), full multiplayer support, Forge, Theater, and more. The game is available on Xbox Game Pass for all subscribers. It remains to be seen … [Read more...] about Gears Of War Getting MCC-Style Collection – Report
Persona publisher Atlus wants your thoughts on what platforms you’d like to play a “sequel” on
If you love Persona but prefer your Xbox console over PC or PlayStation-flavored systems, this one's for you, as publisher Atlus is currently surveying players to see what consoles they'd prefer to play the next numbered Persona sequel on. As spotted by Windows Central , Atlus has reached out to Japanese and - for the first time - English-speaking players to gather their views via a whole range of questions that delve into their preferences. While the survey itself isn't that exciting - not least because it takes around 45 minutes to complete! - Q38 has caught the eye of Persona fans. "If a sequel (numbered entry) in the following game series was to be released, what platform would you want to play it on?" the survey asks. The options given are PS4, PS5, PSVR, Switch, smartphones, and - a console that has never hosted any of the mainline Persona games thus far - Xbox. 【Atlus Survey 2022 for North American territories】From Atlus to our dear fans: … [Read more...] about Persona publisher Atlus wants your thoughts on what platforms you’d like to play a “sequel” on
The Best-Selling Games And Consoles For April 2022 Revealed (US)
The NPD Group has released its latest monthly sales report for April 2022, revealing the best-selling games and hardware of the month, and also shining a light on the general health of the business. Starting with games, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was April 2022's best-selling game overall and is now the No. 2 best-selling game of 2022 so far (Elden Ring is No. 1). Additionally, The Skywalker Saga was the best-selling game of the month on Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam. The Nintendo angle specifically is of note, given The Skywalker Saga is the first game not developed by Nintendo to rank as the No. 1 best-selling game on a Nintendo platform since March 2021 when Capcom's Monster Hunter: Rise topped the charts. The Skywalker Saga also broke franchise sales records, reaching the highest launch-month dollar sales for any Lego title in history. After just one month of sales, The Skywalker Saga is already in the top six best-selling Lego games all time, though the … [Read more...] about The Best-Selling Games And Consoles For April 2022 Revealed (US)
Gears of War series is apparently getting Halo: The Master Chief Collection treatment
The Gears of War franchise could be getting a treatment similar to Halo: The Master Chief Collection according to a new rumor. The rumor once again originates from the Xbox Era podcast . Earlier this year in January, the podcast speculated that an Xbox-owned franchise would be bundled together in a remastered collection , similar to how the Halo franchise was regrouped for a new launch via the Master Chief Collection on PC and Xbox consoles alike. This time though, the podcast hosts are getting a little more specific with their rumourmongering, with Nick Baker namechecking the Gears of War series as the franchise getting a relaunched collection. Additionally, Baker actually believes the collection is launching later this year. That'd certainly make sense, given how Xbox and Bethesda delayed Starfield and Redfall last week to early 2023 . Both games were meant to launch as major Xbox exclusives later this year in 2022, but have now slipped to some point in the … [Read more...] about Gears of War series is apparently getting Halo: The Master Chief Collection treatment
Steam Deck’s built in button mapping sets a new bar for convenience and accessibility
I haven't had a Steam Deck long but in the time I have I've mostly been throwing games at it, most from the last 20 years, to see what works and what doesn't. 2002's Morrowind? Like a dream. 2009's Batman: Arkham Asylum? Here's an error screen I doubt the developers have even seen. Throughout this reckless generational testing one thing has constantly floored me, and it's not playing Days Gone on a handheld. Instead, it's how flawlessly the system's built-in button mapping works. Pressing on The Steam Deck seems to effortlessly reassign the controls of almost anything you play in a way that makes it feel like it was designed for the machine. From ancient games like 1994's Elder Scrolls Arena, to more recent things that predate standard gamepad PC options such as 2005's Condemned: Criminal Origins – everything just works, as if past developers secretly knew the machine was coming and included options for it. You might not realise the feature is even there, it works so well out … [Read more...] about Steam Deck’s built in button mapping sets a new bar for convenience and accessibility

Switch has now outsold PS4 in the US
Switch has now outsold PS4 in the US to become the fourth-biggest home video game console of all time in the region, according to the NPD Group, a long-standing US market research company. "Lifetime unit sales of Nintendo Switch have now surpassed those of PlayStation 4," NPD Executive Director and Video Game Industry Advisor Mat Piscatella says on Twitter , "making it the 4th highest unit selling console in U.S. history, and the 6th highest unit selling video game hardware platform overall. In console it trails only PS2, Xbox 360 and Wii." (Switch sales also currently trail Game Boy/Game Boy Color and Nintendo DS, if you include handhelds.) For context, Nintendo said in its last financial report that Switch had sold just over 42 million units in North and South America, while Sony has not provided public data on American sales for the PS4 - in both cases, NPD is our only source for how the consoles rank in the US, specifically. Sony reported that PS4 had sold over 117 … [Read more...] about Switch has now outsold PS4 in the US
