The D.I.C.E awards are another among the award listings that gauge the best achievements that the gaming industry achieves within a year. Formerly known as the Academy of interactive arts and sciences, the DICE awards revealed the 22 finalists for the annual awards and God of War, unsurprisingly, was quite the star of the show. This isn’t the first awards show God of War has shined at, since we’ve seen the game win the GoTY achievement as well at the official video game awards 2018. As far as the DICE awards go, God of War has been nominated for 12 different awards. The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) has announced nominees for the 22nd D.I.C.E. Awards with God of War leading the pack. Winners of the D.I.C.E. Awards will be announced during a ceremony on Friday, February 13 in Las Vegas and God of War leads the group with 12 nominations, one of which is Game of the Year. Last year, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild won game of the year, and walked off with three other awards. Other titles nominated for Game of the Year are: Into the Breach, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Return of the Obra Dinn. Several other games were nominated in multiple categories including: Marvel’s Spider-Man with 11, Red Dead Redemption 2 with eight and Return of the Obra Dinn with six nods. Look, I just want my motorcycle gang video game, alright? I was hard pressed to find any sympathy yesterday when Sony said Days Gone was delayed another two months, now launching in April 2019. The game, under development since 2015 by Sony’s Bend, Oregon studio and announced at E3 2016, is a rather straightforward pitch — The Last of Us meets Sons of Anarchy, right? Who doesn’t like that? Boom, I just made you a million dollars. Yet it took forever to get a launch window and has been delayed twice now. The latest delay is probably just to get it out of the way of bigger premieres like Crackdown 3 and Anthem in late February. Dammit, I’m a paunchy, 45-year-old man with toilet-seat pattern baldness and the clock is ticking here. I’m going to have my first polyp removed before a proper motorcycle gang video game comes out on consoles. Winners of the 21st D.I.C.E. Awards were announced last night. The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) announced the D.I.C.E. Awards winners during a ceremony on Thursday, February 22 in Las Vegas. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild won game of the year, and walked off with three other awards. Cuphead also took home three awards, Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds took home two, and as did Horizon: Zero Dawn which lead the group with ten nominations, one of which was Game of the Year. Nintendo’s Genyo Takeda was honored with a lifetime achievement award during the ceremony. Takeda, who retired last year, was general manager of Nintendo’s Integrated R&D division, and designed the save system for The Legend of Zelda. He also produced various games for Nintendo such as arcade game EVR Race, Punch-Out!!, Super Punch-Out!! (arcade and SNES), StarTropics, Pokemon Puzzle League, and Dr. Mario 64.
