Basically, I'm following tutorials as I'm very new to OpenGL. I managed to perform shadow mapping towards just one direction, meaning I created 2D texture depth map. Now with omnidirectional shadow mapping I'm having some trouble. Here are the main parts of my code: First render-creating the cube map glUseProgram(cubeShader); glViewport(0, 0, 1024, 1024); glBindFramebuffer(GL_FRAMEBUFFER, depthCubeMapFBO); glClear(GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT); glBindFramebuffer(GL_FRAMEBUFFER, depthCubeMapFBO); glFramebufferTexture(GL_FRAMEBUFFER, GL_DEPTH_ATTACHMENT, depthCubeMap, 0); mat4 modelMatrix = mat4(1); glUniform3f(lightLocationCube, lightPos.x, lightPos.y, lightPos.z); glUniform1f(farPlaneCubeLoc, 25.0f); mat4 shadowProj = perspective(double(radians(90.0f)), 4.0 / 4.0, 1.0, 10.0); lightTransforms.clear(); lightTransforms.push_back(shadowProj * glm::lookAt(lightPos, lightPos + glm::vec3(1.0, 0.0, 0.0), glm::vec3(0.0, -1.0, 0.0))); lightTransforms.push_back(shadowProj * glm::lookAt(lightPos, lightPos … [Read more...] about I can’t make the cube map to use shadow mapping

While Nintendo has gotten especially good in the past years at coming up with interesting twists on the Mario series — giving us everything from Mario Tennis, to Mario Kart, to Captain Toad, and beyond — few were willing to go as far as Luigi’s Mansion. Set in a completely different style from the likes of his brother, Luigi’s Mansion gave everyone’s favorite, slightly awkward Mario Brother a chance to shine in the spotlight, and though it was divisive at the time, Luigi’s Mansion has taken on a life of its own as a cult classic in later years. From its charming and spooky mansion setting, to a vast array of colorful and delightfully eerie ghosts, and the introduction of gameplay that brings out the inner Ghostbuster in all of us, Luigi’s Mansion marked a radical departure from anything else we had seen from Nintendo when it comes to the Mario series. Though some aspects of the game landed more … [Read more...] about Luigi’s Mansion Review (3DS) — I Ain’t Afraid of No Ghosts

The first time Taylor Kurosaki and Bob Rafei saw a running PlayStation, they were in a Las Vegas hotel room. It was the 1995 Consumer Electronics Show. They, along with the company they worked for, Naughty Dog, were being given a behind-closed-doors look at Sony's first foray into the game console industry. When they describe the event now, they use words like "inspiring" and "enthralled" and phrases like "blown away." They didn't know it at the time, but the members of Naughty Dog in that room — Kurosaki, Rafei and co-founders Jason Rubin and Andy Gavin — were looking at the system that would host the team's next game: Crash Bandicoot. They were seeing the console their company would eventually create the unofficial mascot for — the console they would develop Naughty Dog's first smash hit for. It was Kurosaki and Rafei's second day with the company. Naughty Dog released Crash Bandicoot for Sony's original PlayStation in September 1996. In it, the team took an old … [Read more...] about Crash Bandicoot: An oral history
