· March 2, 2021 ·

Fall Guys developer Mediatonic has been purchased by Epic Games, according to the Epic Newsroom announcement . The news broke Tuesday, March 2 by Bloomberg's Jason Schreier , then followed up shortly after by the official Fall Guys Twitter account and Epic Games themselves. The game will still be available on PC, PS4, and PS5, and will still release on Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X "soon." “Beyond the shared vision among our teams, we see tremendous potential in combining forces with Epic. Netflix buys new Liam Neeson movie in record-breaking deal

· March 2, 2021 ·

Netflix US has picked up Liam Neeson's latest movie, The Ice Road, for $18 million. The streamer beat multiple buyers with the recording-breaking domestic deal, according to Deadline . Co-starring Laurence Fishburne, the action thriller sees a remote diamond mine collapse in the far northern regions of Canada. An ice driver (Neeson) then leads an impossible rescue mission over a frozen ocean to save the lives of trapped miners despite thawing waters and a threat they never see coming. The movie was written and directed by Jonathan Hensleigh, who previously wrote movies like Die Hard With a Vengeance, Jumanji, and The Punisher, the latter of which he also directed. This is the filmmaker's first movie in 10 years. Meanwhile, Neeson has had a lot on his plate. The actor's recent projects released in the past year include action thrillers The Marksman and Honest Thief, as well as the comedy drama Made in Italy, in which starred alongside his son, Micheál Richardson. … [Read more...] about Netflix buys new Liam Neeson movie in record-breaking deal

Does AMD need to announce its own GPU hashrate limiter to combat cryptocurrency mining?

· March 2, 2021 ·

AMD's Where Gaming Begins Episode 3 stream tomorrow will introduce us all to the AMD RX 6700 XT graphics card. That's where we'll get the basic low-down on the specs and performance of the new Navi 22-based GPU ahead of launch sometime in mid-March. But, inevitably, the first thing that people are going to be asking about the new Radeon graphics card is: Am I going to be able to buy one? The second question, linked to that first, will be: What the hell are you doing about miners? The graphics card market is in a pickle at the moment, to say the least. A perfect storm of pandemic-based production and supply chain problems has mixed with a huge spike in demand from stay-at-home PC gamers and the exponential rise in the profitability of GPU-based cryptocurrency mining, all combining to create a market where it's all but impossible to bag yourself a new card at anything like MSRP. Into this both the green team, with the Nvidia RTX 3060 , and team Radeon, with the AMD RX 6700 … [Read more...] about Does AMD need to announce its own GPU hashrate limiter to combat cryptocurrency mining?

Outriders dev explains all those pesky loading cutscenes

· March 2, 2021 ·

If you've been playing the Outriders demo since it came out last week, you may have picked up on an annoyance: loading cutscenes. The third-person looter shooter game from People Can Fly (Bulletstorm, Gears of War: Judgment) plays a short cutscene whenever you want to move to a new area. These cutscenes show everything from a character opening a door to climbing a ledge. They include a full fade to black opening before playing the cutscene, then another fade to black before you get back into the action. These cutscenes sometimes border on the hilarious. One I noticed while playing saw my character perform a dramatic jump across a broken bridge: Not sure I need a cutscene for that jump, Outriders pic.twitter.com/djZ25EyHhO — Wesley Yin-Poole (@wyp100) February 28, 2021 This content is hosted on an external platform, which will only display it if you accept targeting cookies.
