By Cameron Bonomolo - December 9, 2019 12:10 am EST Share 0 Comments 0 Aquaman star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is “confident” the villainous Black Manta will return to menace the titular aquatic superhero played by Jason Momoa in Aquaman 2. Abdul-Mateen’s black-suited bad guy — real name David Kane, a mercenary with a grudge against the now King of Atlantis — used Atlantean technology provided by Aquaman’s half-brother Orm Marius (Patrick Wilson) to wreak havoc on the surface world, but his short-lived reign of terror was ended when Aquaman sent him plummeting down a cliff. Hopefully, that will hold,” Abdul-Mateen told Entertainment Weekly. “Black Manta will be back … [Read more...] about Black Manta Actor Provides Update on Aquaman 2 Status

By Brandon Davis - July 17, 2018 08:03 am EDT Share 1 Comments 1 While Aquaman will have his hands full with the villainous Orm in his standalone movie, Black Manta will be present as a "B Story" with major potential for future films. ComicBook.com visited Aquaman's Australian set in July of 2017, getting a look at Black Manta's fully spot-on comic-accurate costume but also hearing about how he factors into the next DC Comics movie. Played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, the character will likely emerge as a fan-favorite, as his feud with Jason Momoa's Arthur Curry is only just setting sail. "We meet Black Manta at a time where, it's just him and his dad, and he's riding on high, you know," Abdul-Mateen II said. "He's just come off of his wind, and there's a changing of the guards, so to speak. And then, this guy, Aquaman, comes in, and crashes the party." The relationship, like much of the Aquaman movie, will follow its DC Comics roots. If Abdul-Mateen II were to … [Read more...] about Black Manta’s Role in ‘Aquaman’ is a “Strong Secondary Villain” With Big Future Plans

By Adam Barnhardt - December 8, 2019 10:15 pm EST Share 0 Comments 0 Ryan Reynolds was on-hand at CCXP19 Saturday to unveil the first trailer to Free Guy, the upcoming comedy film from 20th Century Fox. The trailer is a hilarious look into the world of a video game where a non-playable character (Ryan Reynolds) decides that he wants to join in on the fun. Though risque at times, the trailer doesn't go overboard with swearing or gore, leading some to believe Free Guy could be a test from Disney for another franchise Reynolds leads. One popular fan theory suggests the movie, in fact, will be under close scrutiny from the executives at Disney to see if it's the type of humor they could use for a third Deadpool movie. Not just that, but it could also be under a microscope to see if the next Deadpool movie could get the classic PG-13 rating instead of a hard R rating. 0commentsThe theory was initially posted on Reddit by u/Filipino_Buddha, who suggests Disney might … [Read more...] about Is Free Guy a Test for Disney’s PG-13 Deadpool Plans?
