As part of the Sigrblot festival, you'll need to complete the Feeding the Wolf quest. Your clanmates in Ravensthorpe have many hopes and prayers for the year ahead and as their leader, it's up to you to decide which god to dedicate an offering to. You'll get a bunch of tokens for completing this quest which you can use to purchase cosmetics for yourself and the settlement. Other festival tasks include humbling Ake in a game of wit (opens in new tab) and throwing a feast (opens in new tab) to boost morale. With that in mind, let's take a look at how to complete Feeding the Wolf. Where to find the shrine and letters Once you've returned to Ravensthorpe, you'll begin The War Effort questline for the Sigrblot festival, and Feeding the Wolf is one of the tasks. Speak with Thyra to get your first lot of instructions, which involves visiting the shrines near the waterfall. To find the shrines, head back to the longhouse and turn right, up towards the waterfalls … [Read more...] about Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: How to complete Feeding the Wolf and honour the gods

Read your future with 22 videogame interpretations of the Tarot
If you've ever come across the Tarot, it's probably as a means of telling the future. A cousin of modern playing cards that dates back to the 15th century, the Tarot consists of four suites of numbered Minor Arcana cards and a Major Arcana of trumps depicting archetypal characters and concepts, such as Death or the Empress. Each card is dense with possible interpretations that can be hypnotic to unravel, even if you don't take the divination thing seriously. Videogame developers among other artmakers have seized upon the Tarot as both a motif and a creative tool: Tarot-esque designs appear in fantasy RPGs like Dragon Age: Inquisition, and studios like Ice Water Games use them as a source of quickfire inspiration. A common Tarot fortune-telling method is to draw three cards and use them to explore answers to a question, like “will there ever be a proper Legacy of Kain revival”. This is also how you'll unlock games in Cartomancy , a full-blown indie collection of 22 games from … [Read more...] about Read your future with 22 videogame interpretations of the Tarot
Elden Ring update makes summoning easier and finally lets you do the Varre quest solo
Audio player loading… FromSoftware just pushed out a new update for Elden Ring (opens in new tab) , making summoning a friendly face a whole lot easier, removing the online requirements for a quest and slapping some nerfs on a few meta skills and weapons. Patch 1.06 lets you send summoning signs to more areas, including regions you're not currently in. It should make finding a helper in quieter areas a lot easier now, though understandably you can only be summoned to areas you've already visited. The same is also true for invaders, so now you can invade a larger area, including regions you're not currently in. The update has also introduced an offline alternative for the White Mask Varre questline (opens in new tab) . Before now, the only way to advance was by invading someone else's game three times. Although you didn't actually have to fight or win against any other players, it was a pain for people playing offline. Now, those who don't fancy getting their hands … [Read more...] about Elden Ring update makes summoning easier and finally lets you do the Varre quest solo
Overwatch will stop selling loot boxes this month
Audio player loading… We have Valve to thank for the introduction of paid loot boxes in PC gaming, but the loot box trend didn't really kick off until Overwatch made box-opening fun, cool, and sometimes free in 2016. Six years later, Overwatch is one of the only popular games left pushing loot boxes, but not for much longer. To prepare for the day that Overwatch 2 ditches loot boxes forever, Blizzard will cease selling them in Overwatch 1 later this month. Blizzard is sunsetting loot boxes (opens in new tab) during the third chapter of its Anniversary Remix event that kicks off today. The three-week promotion features a handful of legendary skin recolors based on old favorites. Some can be earned through play, while others have to be bought with in-game coins or earned through loot boxes. Players can still purchase loot boxes directly to increase their chances, but Blizzard will close the doors on loot box sales on August 30. Throughout September players will still be … [Read more...] about Overwatch will stop selling loot boxes this month
Eric Barone says he ‘can’t believe’ Stardew Valley has sold 20 million copies
Audio player loading… Stardew Valley (opens in new tab) has been out for six years now, and somehow it just keeps on getting bigger. A recent update to the Stardew Valley press site (opens in new tab) indicates that the game has now sold more than 20 million copies across all platforms, including 13 million on PC alone. "The 20 million copies milestone is really amazing," Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone said in an email to PC Gamer. "I can't believe the game has reached this level." One of the most interesting things about the new milestone is the way the pace of Stardew Valley sales appears to be growing, despite its age. It sold more than one million (opens in new tab) copies just a couple months after release, and then hit the 10 million (opens in new tab) mark four years later, in January 2020. By September 2021 the number was over 15 million (opens in new tab) , and now, just eight months later, we're at 20 million. Barone confirmed that … [Read more...] about Eric Barone says he ‘can’t believe’ Stardew Valley has sold 20 million copies
These Minecraft ancient city redesigns are gloriously green
As if the deep dark weren't daunting enough, intrepid builders are out here pulling off entire redesigns of Minecraft 1.19 's huge new ancient cities. You know, just a bit of light building between other projects. The massive ruined structures found deep underground are spooky by default: ruined pillars dotting the darkness, covered in sculk blocks and shriekers ready to summon a warden if you don't tip-toe through their territory. Maybe the wardens are only cranky because their homes are in disrepair though. Luckily, these builders are renovating the ancient cities back to their imagined former glory. Some have been completely overhauled with lush cave greenery to prove they used to be life-sustaining genuine cities. Others add lore of their own and light up the darkness with an abundance of bright blocks. At least one decided to keep the spooky feel. Maybe the ancient cities were always dangerous. The most audacious of these builders have even completed their builds in … [Read more...] about These Minecraft ancient city redesigns are gloriously green
Minecraft ocean bases are a delicate balance of slick design and looming disaster
Scrambling around trying to build a base is always the highest priority on Minecraft's survival checklist. If you're like me, your first base was probably a haphazardly thrown-together oak block box with enough space for a bed, crafting table, and my blocky body to squeeze into. But Minecraft bases have become much more than that, and builders have been experimenting with all kinds of impressive designs like huge underground lairs, epic treehouses, or grand stone fortresses. There have been plenty of spectacular Minecraft builds (opens in new tab) , but one design that continues to blow my mind are ocean bases. In short, the water physics in Minecraft are hard to grapple with. The way water flows and fills spaces is pretty confusing and thinking about how the current of one water block is affected by its four horizontal and vertical neighbours is headache-inducing. That's why it's always impressive to see ocean builds. The engineering and design that have gone into building … [Read more...] about Minecraft ocean bases are a delicate balance of slick design and looming disaster
These Minecraft desert temple redesigns carry a threatening aura
Minecraft desert temples are a dangerous affair. Sure there's some amazing loot hidden inside, but you risk the chance of triggering a TNT pressure plate and getting blown to smithereens. For a structure that's supposed to strike fear into the hearts of treasure hunters, though, the vanilla desert temples in Minecraft look a little underwhelming. Thankfully, the Minecraft building community has once again stepped in with some truly amazing redesigns. These desert temple revamps have blown the cobwebs off the temple's dusty tombs and made them look badass. Some have been redesigned to look like epic desert castles, others look just downright threatening. You won't catch me stepping a single foot inside regardless of what precious treasures lay beneath. Together with the best Minecraft texture packs (opens in new tab) and shaders (opens in new tab) , these redesigns are pretty incredible. I've listed my favourite desert temple redesigns below with a link to the builder that … [Read more...] about These Minecraft desert temple redesigns carry a threatening aura
