I need to find the position of the closest point from the bounds of multiple colliders. Right now I'm using OnTriggerStay and collider.ClosestPointOnBounds(). This works great for one collider, but as when I add a new collider, it doesn't update. I've drawn a quick picture to illustrate what I'm trying to say. The black box is the area I want to check in, the red boxes are the colliders with numbers representing the order they entered the black box. The green star is what the code currently says the closest point is, and the blue star is the expected result. The purple star is the position I'm checking for, the blue star should be the closest point to the purple star. I found this answer to a similar question on answers.unity3d.com. However, I feel like that could be very inefficient because there will be many, probably up to 50 of these box checking scripts running at the same time. I've also tried using Physics.BoxCast but that gave very wild results. The area it was checking was … [Read more...] about How to find the closest point on multiple colliders within a box?

Black Armory is now available for Annual Pass holders in Destiny 2, and there are a bunch of new activities to be getting stuck into. One of these new activities involves searching for the aptly named Mysterious Box. As Black Amory’s content is due to be rolled out gradually, we’re not sure what’s in the box. For now, let’s take a look at where you can find the Mysterious Box and where two of its keys can be found. You’ll need to complete the first few Black Armory quests to the point where the Forge is accessible at Smidur’s Cavern. The Power recommendation for Black Armory missions starts at 600 Power, so if you’re a bit behind you might want to team up to progress through the story. Head over to the Sunken Isles in the EDZ and you’ll see an activity called Black Armory Machine Gun Frame, which you can track. From the drop zone, head left and make your way through the tunnel. You’ll eventually arrive at Smidur’s Cavern, … [Read more...] about Destiny 2: Black Armory – Mysterious Box guide
Valve have quietly discontinued production of Steam Link hardware, the wee black box which plugs into your telly and home network to let you play PC games on the big screen streamed from another room. Their plan is to instead focus on the Steam Link app for mobile doodads and certain models of television. Supplies in Europe are already sold out, and Valve say they’re almost gone in the USA too. I am now kicking myself for not picking one up all those times they were £2 in sales. “The supply of physical Steam Link hardware devices is sold out in Europe and almost sold out in the US,” Valve said in yesterday’s announcement. US folks, cross your fingers and hit the store. “Moving forward, Valve [intend] to continue supporting the existing Steam Link hardware as well as distribution of the software versions of Steam Link, available for many leading smart phones, tablets and televisions.” But continued hardware support is not continued hardware … [Read more...] about Steam Link box discontinued and almost sold out
Back in July of last year, I wrote an editorial explaining why I was excited about Call of Duty: WWII‘s Nazi Zombies mode, and in the first paragraph I mentioned that Call of Duty: Black Ops II was the last Call of Duty game I had enjoyed, and that I fell off of the series after that point. The reason for that was because I felt that it was the last truly “great” Call of Duty title, and, what’s worse, is that Black Ops III was almost the complete antithesis to its predecessor in every way. Because of that, while I will admit that I’m excited about the newly-announced Black Ops 4, I remain skeptical. So here a few relatively simple things that I think Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 needs to have in order to hold my attention. The first two Black Ops games are easily some of my favorites in the entire Call of Duty franchise. The first title tells a thrilling and mysterious story about … [Read more...] about Three Things I Want to See From Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
Black Panther continues to dominate and set records at the box office. The Marvel superhero movie made an estimated $67.5 million at the US and Canadian box office this weekend, putting it firmly ahead of newcomers like Jennifer Lawrence's Red Sparrow and the new Bruce Willis movie Death Wish.$67.5 million is good for the third best third weekend in history at the domestic box office, only behind the juggernauts Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avatar. It's a dropoff from last week's $108 million for its second weekend, but downturns are always expected. Black Panther has now pulled in $501.1 million in the US and Canada over its first 17 days, and it has been No. 1 at the box office every weekend since its release. The movie now ranks 10th best all time domestically (before inflation), and its $501.1 million is better than every previous Marvel movie to date except for 2012's The Avengers. Black Panther is also a hit overseas. This weekend it made an estimated $56.2 million, pushing … [Read more...] about Black Panther Continues To Dominate At The Box Office
