Jeremy Soule is a BAFTA winning composer with over 60 credits to his name. If you’re not familiar with his name, you’ll be familiar with his music. Jeremy’s scoring credits include The Elder Scrolls Oblivion and Skyrim, Guild Wars, the Harry Potter games, and many more. What you might not be familiar with is The Northerner Symphony, a Kickstarter project Jeremy launched in March 2013. Composing a symphony is no easy task, but Jeremy said the project would be completed in September 2013. Over 4,000 backers pledged over $121,227 to help fund the project – including five super backers who pledged $1,500 each. The problem is, the Northerner isn’t finished yet and many of the people I spoke to who backed it are worried it never will be. The Kickstarter has been a strange journey, documented by sporadic updates from Jeremy, his PR company The Max Steiner Agency, and, strangely, one official update posted on February 9, 2017, that wasn’t written by Jeremy … [Read more...] about Why is Skyrim composer Jeremy Soule’s $121,227 Kickstarter symphony still not finished five years later?

The newest League of Legends character is a shape-shifting chameleon girl. She also has been confirmed to be part of the LGBTQ community, which is apparent in some of her voice lines. Her name, as PC Gamer reports, is Neeko and she is a part chameleon hybrid. This gives her the ability to shapeshift and confuse her enemies on the battlefield. However, she can only turn into other ally champions and she’ll return to normal upon attacking or being attacked. Convincing enemy teams she’s a bigger threat than she is or allowing them to underestimate her appears to play a key strategy in playing this new hero. Players can even use her to distract others from the true incoming threat or even coax them out of hiding. Her overall personality is jovial, playful, and upbeat and she seems to truly enjoy her ability to transform. Many of her voice lines imply an intense curiosity and pleasure in taking on other forms. Not only that, but fans are noticing that her voice lines are a bit … [Read more...] about The Newest League of Legends Character Is a LGBTQ Lizard Girl
A few weeks ago, developer Riot Games unleashed the latest weapon in its incredibly well-financed marketing arsenal: a three-minute music video for POP/STARS, a song performed by a fictitious girl band consisting of four of the most popular characters in League of Legends. That track has now managed to secure the top spot on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales charts.POP/STARS is performed by K/DA, a band which, in the virtual world at least, consists of League of Legends characters Ahri, Evelynn, Kai'Sa, and Akali. In reality, however, their vocals are provided by a cross-continental line-up of accomplished music stars: US-based Madison Beer and Jaira Burns, and Miyeon and Soyeon from K-pop girl group (G)I-DLE.As compiled by Nielsen Music and reported by Billboard, POP/STARS managed to sell 9,000 copies in the week ending November 8th. That might sound faintly preposterous for a fake band rustled up to promote some video game cosmetics - but it all becomes a little clearer once you … [Read more...] about League of Legends’ virtual girl band K/DA manages to top Billboard’s world music charts

Steam Spy is not technically shutting down, but an announcement on Tuesday was treated as such. Changes coming to Steam mean that users’ libraries will now be kept private and out of the data sluice that fed Steam Spy, a third-party site that tracked game ownership, concurrent users and other trends on Steam. Sergey Galyonkin, who created Steam Spy in 2015, responded to the Steam update by saying that he can still make some extrapolations and other guesses about games’ performance and popularity, but that they will come with a huge margin of error — a major setback for what’s known as the most reliable third-party Steam stats site. As with a museum close by that I always said I’d visit, but never did, I’m both disappointed and remorseful. The few times I used Steam Spy (or SteamCharts, which measures concurrent players), I always found the context I lacked from looking at the Steam ownership charts alone. Wait, why the hell is that blowing up ... … [Read more...] about Steam Spy was a great hype buster for wary consumers
