Home • PC Game Hardware • PC Game News • 2 Katharine Castle Hardware Editor 28th November 2019 / 2:45PM The Black Friday gaming monitor deals have been a little lacklustre this year, but your deals herald has finally found one worth shouting about. It’s on the AOC C24G1, our best gaming monitor pick for those on a budget, which is now down to a very agreeable £135 / $145 over on Amazon. Full disclosure, the C24G1 has been $145 ever since I reviewed it last month, but still, that’s a pretty great price for this curved 24in, 1920×1080, 144Hz, AMD FreeSync monitor regardless. Indeed, its UK price last month was up around the £175 mark, making the current UK deal price a saving of around £30. Sure, it’s not the kind of door-busting rice drop you might have hoped for this Black Friday, but hey, a deal’s a deal, and you’re still getting a great monitor for it. To remind you of why it’s so great, … [Read more...] about Our best budget gaming monitor is just £135 / $145 for Black Friday

5 reasons why Reach is the best Halo game
Home • Halo: Reach • 50 No chief? no grief. Josh Fortune Contributor 5th December 2019 / 1:00PM I can’t help but love Halo. It’s one of the few things that lodged firmly enough in my teenage heart to build itself a permanent nest there, and it still comes and goes freely, even though the iron gate of age has barred so much else from getting in. Ever since 2001, when I saved to buy an OG Xbox purely for the sake of playing Combat Evolved, I’ve gotten needlessly excited about playing each new release on launch day. I was also the guy Nate wrote this article about. Over the last eighteen years, we’ve slugged through pretty much every new release in the series together, and they’ve burned a string of happy little plasma scars on my brain, each one a memorial anchor for a whole period of my life. A decision to join the army in my early twenties saw me playing Halo 3 in drafty barracks in Wales, about to be sent to Afghanistan. … [Read more...] about 5 reasons why Reach is the best Halo game

Normally £1400, this pint-sized powerhouse can be had for £749 by using the code LASTCHANCE on Lenovo’s website right now, giving you a massive saving of £650. As well as an RTX 2060 graphics card (the best Nvidia GPU for 1440p gaming on High to max settings), you get an Intel Core i5-9400 CPU, 16GB of DDR4 RAM clocked at a nippy 2666MHz, a 512GB PCIe SSD, six USB ports on the back plus another two on the front, as well as built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, all in a tiny, compact 19 litre chassis. Nvidia’s GeForce Now PC beta is much better at cloud gaming than you think
Home • PC Game Hardware • 56 The GeForce is strong in this one Katharine Castle Hardware Editor 23rd January 2018 / 6:00PM Cloud gaming has become a bit of a dirty word these days. There have been plenty of people who have tried their hand at it over the years, promising high-end, lag-free gaming without the need for all that bulky, costly hardware, but most (*cough*Gaikai*cough*OnLive*cough*) have ended up on that age-old trash heap of crushed dreams and broken promises, their meagre uptake prompting them to disappear back into the ether almost as quickly as they appeared. This time, though, Nvidia might have finally cracked it, as the beta for their GeForce Now streaming service has finally arrived on PC in Europe and North America. It’s free, uses your very own game library and their respective cloud saves, and, whisper it, it’s actually pretty good. So rejoice all you laptop and creaking PC people whose rigs would probably faint at even the … [Read more...] about Nvidia’s GeForce Now PC beta is much better at cloud gaming than you think
