It also brings back Timothy Lawrence, one of Jack's body doubles who was a playable character added to Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel as DLC. That's a deep cut—even people who played the Pre-Sequel probably didn't bother with its DLC characters, but the handful who did will be pleased to see him not only return but have his arc completed. Given how Borderlands 3 short-changed the returning characters it did feature (#justice4maya), this feels like a statement of intent and it's something the other DLCs will repeat with other characters. … [Read more...] about The best parts of Borderlands 3 are hidden in its DLC

Are we excited that Massive is making a Star Wars game?Tim Clark, Brand Director: I love this. It's one of those announcements that just seems such a good fit that your brain immediately spins up with ideas. I played a lot of The Division, and only less of its sequel because by that point my Destiny 2 addiction had spiraled so irrevocably out of control. But if we're to assume that this new Star Wars game will be some sort of shared-world looter shooter, then the license feels like an incredibly good fit. What I think the continued love for KOTOR tells us is that Star Wars fans want to live in this universe, not just blow through a quick campaign like Fallen Order, and although live service loot games have a bit of a bad rap right now—largely I think because they're so hard to get right—Massive is one of very few studios with the experience to pull it off. … [Read more...] about What do we want from Ubisoft’s open world Star Wars game?
This is what we'll be using to get charged, because Orbs are incredibly easy to create with multikills from Masterworked weapons. In solo play, running all masterworked weapons will see the floor littered with Orbs, and in group play you'll also benefit from the Orbs your allies create. At the very least your primary should be masterworked, unless it's an exotic with no catalyst, in which case consider swapping to whichever mod generates charges based on kills with that weapon. (For example, if you're running the hand cannon Hawkmoon you would choose the Precision Charge mod.) Side note: I strongly recommend running either Recuperation or Better Already armor mods on your boots, as these will provide healing whenever you collect an Orb. … [Read more...] about How to create a powerful Destiny 2 ‘Charged with Light’ build that works anywhere
There's a new Hitman game out and, naturally, a retro gamer's mind turns to thoughts of previous sneaky stealth experiences. Metal Gear Solid, perhaps, the game that made hiding in cardboard boxes an acceptable activity for tactical espionage agents? Thief, the immersive olden days creep-and-cram burglary sim in which environmental awareness was as important as speedy reactions? Maybe even Spy vs Spy, that old school multiplayer game in which you laid traps to ensnare your rival? … [Read more...] about Revisiting Under the Skin, Capcom’s forgotten arcade stealth game
My excitement for the Flow X13, as I'm sure shared by most, is not its AMD Ryzen 5980XS (low-power variant of the HX) chip or Nvidia GTX 1650 graphics, but that the ROG Flow X13 supports its very own external GPU. It's said that it shouldn't suffer from any external bandwidth issues, either, thanks to the use of a proprietary and awfully wide interface capable of 63 Gbps bandwidth. That's greater than even Thunderbolt 4, but arguably it does take up considerably more room than a Type-C port. … [Read more...] about The 7 announcements from CES 2021 that every PC gamer should know about
