The simple joy of a shell finding its mark Since the SNES original, the items are what set Mario Kart apart from its more straightlaced competition. And the brand new Mario Kart 8 has players destroying other racers with the iconic power-ups once more (along with new ones), all in glorious HD. That makes now the right time to reacquaint yourself with the many tools of the road. But seeing all 35 in random order wouldn't be too exciting--so we went ahead and ranked them all from worst to best.We used an elaborate (but foolproof) method to rank the many items, taking into account usability, power, balance, history, and most important of all, how fun and rewarding the item is to use. The Osiris and T20 now challenge the Zentorno as the fastest supercars in GTA Online. But which offers the real value for money? The Progen T20. Snapmatic by WHITE_SHARK_xDGTA Online’s Ill-Gotten Gains DLC introduced a brand new supercar to the game, finally giving the favourite Pegassi Zentorno a run for its money. A lot of players had been saving up money from Heists and were happy to shell out for the new Pegassi Osiris. Damn, it’s a good looking car, and fast to boot. But then less than a month later the Progen T20 turned up in the second part of the Ill-Gotten Gains DLC, throwing a spanner in the works. It looked to be a little bit faster and it was certainly the most expensive car in the game. You wait for one supercar to challenge the dominance of the Zentorno and two come along at once. Did you just waste all that cash on the Osiris? It’s a good problem to have. If you’re sitting on upwards of $10 million from Heists and other activities, it’s a no … [Read more...] about GTA Online: should you buy the new Progen T20 supercar?
Earlier this week I got to go hands-on with some of Watch Dogs 2’s campaign and side missions, and you can see the results of that right here, right now. Want to see Marcus give up hacking in exchange for being San Francisco's worst taxi driver? Just step this way. Will Watch Dogs 2 join our list of the best PC games of 2016? First up I play two missions from the Haum Sweet Haum section of the campaign, which sees Marcus and Dedsec go to war with a smart home gadgets company. In the first assignment Marcus needs to steal a van from their warehouse, and you can see me attempt the theft in two different ways. My first try involves the hallowed ‘all guns blazing’ method, which absolutely doesn’t go to plan. For a more successful follow-up, I opt for the use of Watch Dogs 2’s handy drone gadget, which helps me get in nice and quietly. For the second mission, Marcus is tasked with breaking into a house fitted out with Haum tech. That means laser … [Read more...] about Watch us play three new missions from Watch Dogs 2
I’ve been robbed! I got up this morning to find my office ransacked and my mahogany word cabinet agape. Among the items taken were the words listed above. In the circumstances, covering this week’s wargame releases could be tricky. Perhaps I should stick to sim-related news, interviews and observations today.Londoners in the single-player pampering Wings Over Flanders Fields now sport bleary eyes and hunted looks. On Monday Gothas and Zeppelins arrived over the British capital courtesy of an expansion pack that also introduced aircraft self-shadowing, flightier flight, flightier foes, inkier nights and chalkier Cliffs of Dover.Does the full feature list justify a $45 outlay? Going by this largely approbatory ‘first impressions’ forum thread, yes, it probably does.******************************* During a recent attic rummage, I came across My First Proper Book, an extremely dog-eared copy of Ladybird’s ‘Commercial Vehicles’. Crammed with … [Read more...] about The Flare Path: Is Lost For Words
I'm watching four members of Rockstar North pull off a heist in Grand Theft Auto Online. This is hardly some two-bit job; it's a carefully orchestrated mission where each player assumes a different role in an effort to infiltrate a secured storage yard and make off with a truck full of high-value merchandise. It's going well. Two of the players have managed to jump in the truck and endure a white-knuckle freeway chase stretching from the grimy warehouse district of Los Santos to an unassuming patch of farmland in the Blaine County countryside. As they drop off the truck, the other pair of players--the ones who've been tailing along providing invaluable cover fire--pull up beside them in a zippy sports car. Smiles abound as the group revels in its successful heist. Just when it looks like everyone is about to pile together and cruise into the sunset, the player behind the wheel says, "Sorry! I've only got two seats. But I do have this for you." It's here that the driver flips his … [Read more...] about Why Grand Theft Auto Online is Crazy Enough to Work
