I hope you’ve maxed out your tiers and nabbed that Black Knight costume in Fortnite: Battle Royale come sunset today, because season 2 is coming to a close, bringing an end to the Battle Pass as we know it. Battle Pass, for those who don't know, was an in-game purchase that allowed players to level up faster and earn more cosmetic items for Epic’s free-to-play Battle Royale mode. But the denouement of season 2 heralds in the new dawn of season 3, and introduces a brand new Battle Pass for Fortnite later this week. Epic has done its research, and has created something bigger, better, and more cost-effective for this new season of Battle Royale, with more tiers and a wider range of goodies to unlock, most of which have never been seen in the game before. The Battle Pass will have a total of 100 tiers to progress through, which is 30 more than last season, but Epic has confirmed that it’ll still take around the same amount of time (roughly 75 - 150 … [Read more...] about Fortnite: Battle Royale kicks off season 3 with a bigger, better Battle Pass filled with spacesuits, skydiving trails, and… loading screens?!
The second season of Fortnite: Battle Royale is almost done, and that means season three is almost here. With the newest season right around the corner, Epic has finally revealed the theme for season three’s Battle Pass: space. That’s right, the newest Battle Pass will take players to the farthest reaches of the universe with space-themed cosmetics. Just like last season’s Battle Pass, the biggest rewards will come to those who play the most, but anyone who buys the pass will instantly be granted a few goodies. The only thing revealed so far is the Mission Specialist Outfit, which lets you run around the map in a space suit. While there’s no official word on when exactly season three starts, it seems likely that it could start as soon as Feb. 21, the day after season two comes to an end. Once the season begins, all Fortnite: Battle Royale players will be able to purchase the Battle Pass from the in-game store. In case you don’t quite know what the the … [Read more...] about Fortnite: Battle Royale’s season 3 Battle Pass will take players to space
After a slow start for the original Fortnite, Epic made some changes and added a free battle royale mode, turning a struggling game into an overnight sensation. There's clearly a fine line between homage and copying, but while there are many similarities to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Fortnite takes a decidedly sillier approach to the battle royale genre. Key to this is a willingness to experiment, with limited time game modes, holiday events, and more—not to mention plenty of aesthetic customizations that can be earned/purchased. Battle Royale mode is technically still in Early Access, but with a player base of over 20 million—and as already noted, it's free to try—we felt it was worth checking out how performance is shaping up. Given the somewhat cartoony graphics, you might expect performance to be a non-issue, but that's not entirely true. At the lowest settings, Fortnite can run on just about any PC built in the past five years. Officially, the minimum … [Read more...] about Fortnite Battle Royale performance and settings guide
Fortnite players can get their hands on new cosmetic skins this week. The PC, PS4, and Xbox One game has received eight new Alpine Ace Ski Skins, with seven of the eight skins repping a different country to celebrate the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The Ski Skins are of Epic rarity and can be purchased in the game's cosmetic shop. Each skin costs 1,500 V-Bucks, which costs about $15 to buy; however, players can earn V-Bucks in the game too. The skins don't affect gameplay at all (although some colors will make you stand out more than others). One of the Ski Skins is a basic blue, but the seven others are decked out in the flags of countries with a considerable number of Fortnite players. The countries represented are: United States, Canada, Great Britain, France, Germany, China, and, of course, South Korea. Check them out in the gallery below. The new skins come after Fortnite developer Epic Games released its delayed 2.4.0 patch.
