This is exactly the kind of complex footwork that leads to messy accidents during parkour sequences, but somehow, the game keeps its balance throughout, though it’s not quite the revival I was hoping for. The bulk of Origins unfolds in North Africa, during the decline of Ptolemaic Egypt around 100 years BC, and is the tale of Bayek, a Medjay – think god-bothering policeman – on a quest to avenge his son’s death at the hands of a powerful, scattered cult. As per not-so-fine tradition … [Read more...] about Wot I Think: Assassin’s Creed Origins

Assassin’s Creed: Rebel Collection Now Available On Switch
The Switch exclusive Assassin's Creed: The Rebel Collection is now available for your portable enjoyment. The collection combines Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Assassin's Creed Rogue, and all of the single-player DLC across both games.Black Flag and Rogue released very close to each other and made use of similar naval battle mechanics. Black Flag is one of the more highly-regarded Assassin's Creed games, introducing the pirate Edward Kenway who gets tangled into the Assassin cause. Rogue was less well-received, but tells a very different kind of story about a loyal guild member turned Assassin Hunter.Aside from the two main games, the collection includes the Freedom Cry and Aveline DLC. Humble Choice goes live with Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Phantom Doctrine, and 8 more
The Humble Monthly Bundle was a subscription service with a mystery twist: For $12 a month, subscribers got a mix of games ranging from high-profile big-budget releases to obscure indie stuff nobody's every heard of. The catch was that you didn't know what most of them would be before you paid. It was still often a good way to pick up games on the cheap because there was no term commitment required, so you could, as in April, grab Assassin's Creed: Origins for $12 (one game, usually a big one, was always revealed early), and then be on your way.I say "was," because the Humble Monthly is now officially done and gone—replaced, as announced in October, with Humble Choice. Like its predecessor, it's a subscription-based service, but there's no surprise involved. Instead, the Humble Store will put together a list of ten or more games each month, from which subscribers can choose up to nine to keep. The debut bundle includes:Shadow of the Tomb RaiderBlasphemousAncestors: LegacyPhantom … [Read more...] about Humble Choice goes live with Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Phantom Doctrine, and 8 more
